I had the same problem and replaced the door seal. You need to remove the front door to do this. Requires some 'handyman' experience.

these units r very tricky to change the element. it involves pulling the wiring loom, hoses and turning it upside down to make it easier. sorry to ask u this but why r you changing the element? please reply and i can help u more.

Not sure if you have tried to refer to the parts manual itself which shows how the parts are assembled together. In particular page 8 which shows the handle assembly part 18. I am assuming this is what you are replacing. Or is it just part 21 which is the plastic latch recess cover.
