Our Philips DPM 9350 has a spring-loaded MMC/SD memory card, and the spring release has broken. Can that spring release be repaired? Can I do the repairs, and if not, but it can be repaired, what is the likely cost? Is there a repair center in or around Boston, or must it be sent to TranscriptionGear.com or Philips, from whom it was purchased. It’s a very expensive device (made in Austria) to become dysfunctional for that reason.

Interesting that, when I phoned TranscriptonGear.com in Concord, Ohio, the company that had sold me the software AND the Philips Digital Pocket Memo recorder.
The tech support guy said, "$30-35 tops. Do you want to arrange now to send us the device at your expense, and we'll return it at our expense after it's done."
The customer service person said, "It's off warranty, so it will be $45 + $16 + shipping costs to return it after the repair."

Early this afternoon I phoned TranscriptionGear.com in Concord, Ohio, the source from which I had purchase the GearPlayer software and the Philips DPM (Digital Pocket Memo) 9350.
The tech support guy said, after checking, $30-35 tops. Do you want to arrange right now to send it to us? We'll return it to you at our expense after fixing it."
T/he customer service lady told us that, since it's not under warranty, it would cost us $45 + $16 service fee + postal costs to return it to us after the repair. Evidently, the left hand and the right hand don't talk with one another in that company.
So it looks like very small Phillips-head screws in the Philips DPM 9350, but where could one purchase the spring for the spring mechanism?

A replacement device from Olympus costs under $50 with transcription software (Olympus Wave Player, kind of like WavPedal), and saves the audiofiles as .wav or .mp3 files, so we don't need audiofile conversion software.
The spring release assembly is very cheap and should not cost you more than 25$ even if you get it repaired so i advice you take proffessional assistance..

You can order a genuine spare at philips customer support site..Or atleast in the showroom.. The 35$ deal i think is not bad..As the new spring release will cost you abt 25$
