Question about Western Digital Passport 320GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
When I connect my 500 GB external HDD it is detected by my laptop or PC but it doesnt appear in 'My Computer'. I tried checking the removable storage in Disk Management but the same result. It doesnt appear even in the Device Manager. Can anyone help me with this?? I have lots of data , movies and music in it.The disk is full.
It could be that the OS is not assigning a drive letter to your
removable drive. To do this, go to disk management and assign one.
Assuming OS is Win 2000/XP/Vista
Right-click My Computer then Manage
Click on Disk Management
Right-click the removable drive and click on Change Drive Letter
Assign a drive letter and click OK
Your drive should now show up on My Computer
Hope this helps.

You might need to assign a drive letter If its USB go into device manager and see if you can see any new USB devices remove it and re connect it while you are looking in USB hub etc then r click on the new entry and assign a drive letter
