Question about Dishwashers

Open Question

I have a new Kitchen aide dishwasher Moddel KUDS35FXSS. It has an insulation blanket that covers the sides, top, and back for sound. The instructions say to cut out a portion of the top piece of insulation along perforation. Do I remove this piece of insulation after cutting? The instructions only say to cut along perforation?

SOURCE: Asko Dishwasher insulating liner (sound or heat? not sure)

This is insulation to retain heat as well as sound dampening. If you are in the south where it is rarely cold you can get by without it save the noise increase. If it gets pretty cool then operation will be severely affected. You can use any insulation method available to you to accomplish the task. Styrofoam, cork, fiberglass. If cost is no object the material for putting in car doors works nicely. I've seen them so insulated you cannot hear them running at all.

SOURCE: bosch she4am dishwasher noise

Just placing a fiberglass batt over the cabinet exterior will quiet it down considerably. Use some thin synthetic cord to tie it in place so that it doesn't crawl off from vibration. If still noisy, remove the door interior panel and check for any insulation there. If there is any appreciable gap at the sides or top, you may need to staple insulation around the interior of the cabinet opening. I'm surprised that they were that lax in noise suppression. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: My kitchen aid dishwasher will not run a cycle. The clean light blinks. I have tried cutting off the breaker to reset it, didn't work.

If you pop the lower panel off the dishwasher there is a quick fix sheet attached the back of the panel that will give you diagnostic codes.

I have a new kitchen aide dishwasher. Does any of the insulation padding come off before installation

No. It is supposed to remain on the dishwasher. It helps cushion the machine noise from vibrating through your counter.

Do we remove the wrap from the back of the unit before use

Hello Pauline,
If what your asking about is the wrap the fits side walls, top & rear of the dishwasher, leave it in place when installing in the cabinet. What it is,is a insulation/sound dampening blanket

I cannot find instructions for installing sound insulation on KUDS301V

Hello- There aren't any instructions. The top, back, and sides are covered by what looks like a blanket that fits over unit - before installation. The kickpanel at bottom has two pieces with insulation that just kind of fit loosely together,  and are held in place by four screws. Installer is supposed to make sure these are in place.  Let me know if this info helps-  have more if needed- Thanks- Ed

Dishwasher insulation for heat

Hi marseibold,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your questoin is: You're wondering if you can further insulate your dishwasher for heat. You are redoing your kitchen, new appliances, cabinets, etc. and shortsightedly put the spice sliding pull-out cabinet next to the dishwasher. The spices get warm when you use the dishwasher. There is a bit of room between the cabinet and dishwasher. Any recommendations for further insulation?

Yes. I would get another insulation blanket off a d/w I'm disposing. Anyway, you need to get one and install it over the old one to decrease the heat transfer.

I have Kitchen Aid Dishwasher Model # KUDMOITJBLO. We began having trouble with the top rack coming out of the brackets on the upper rack track. Kitchen Aid sent me 4 parts # 8268785. The problem is...

I removed the tracks from inside the dishwasher.  Then I was able to carefully remove the endcaps (something I had not been able to do previously) carefully.  The existing broken wheels slid out and I slid two new brackets into each track.   If I attached the tracks to the rack first, I would not be able to clip them into place, so I first replaced the endcaps and then returned the tracks to their positions inside the dishwasher. Reattaching the upper rack is not difficult, but takes two people while I connected the left side, my assistant supported the rack on the right side.  I then connected the right side of the rack.  I slide the rack back and forth to macke sure that is worked smoothly.  We then loaded the dishwasher and washed our dishes as we had in the past.
