The hose is getting twisted on the machine and so the wand gets stuck in the hose.

1) Pull the wand out as far as you can - if you can pull it out completely, separate it from the hose and apply baby powder to the
metal rod. Stretch out the hose and unwind it. In the future, separate the wand and unwind/stretch the hose after use.
2) If you can't pull the wand out all the way, remove the canister/dirt bin from the front. Look for a gray button with 7 vertical
lines/grooves on it (it'll be just above the ball on the opposite side of the bottom hook that you wind the cable around).
3) Push the button and at the same time pull the hose out from the bottom by pulling on the hook - this will release the gray hose
from the machine. Take it off of the machine if possible (the bottom of the wand may stop you from doing so - if it does, try to pull
the wand out until you can release the hose from the bottom)
4) Pull and stretch the hose out and pull the wand at the same time - separate the wand from the hose and unwind the gray hose and
stretch it out. Rub baby powder on the metal rod of the wand and in future, disconnect the wand from the hose and stretch/unwind the
hose after every time you use the wand.

Thank you for such clear, concise instructions. The hose had become twisted, preventing the wand from lifting off the machine.

This worked for me, minus the baby powder. There was a small metal nail file stuck at the bottom of the hose!

How do i release the handle on my dc25 dyson vacuum

Hi Dan, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty releasing your DC25's wand, but this is likely to be simple to resolve. It probably just means that the hose was twisted around when you last replaced the wand on the machine - allowing the hose to unwind will free up the wand. Just follow these steps:

I'm confident this will help, but if you'd like any further guidance after you've given this a try, you can reach our experts directly by calling the Dyson Helpline on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

Hi Nadine, it's Jack at Dyson.

This can occur if the hose is twisted when you replace the wand on your DC25 after use. It's easy to resolve - just follow each of the steps shown in our video guide:

How do you get the extension off then its raised all the way to the top?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25's instant-release hose and wand are designed to detach quickly and easily when you need them. There are no fiddly clips or buttons to press - when you extend the wand upwards to it's fullest extend and pull it firmly, it should separate from the main body of the vacuum:

If the wand seems jammed, or you continue to have difficulty removing it, our experts are on hand to take some further details and provide assistance. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How to return telescopic reach pole to original position

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Once you've reattached the wand to the machine, you need to press the release catch again to collapse the wand back down inside the hose. The release catch is the same one you used to remove the wand initially, located just above the on/off switch.

Dyson DC25 Animal Hose Not Picking Up

Hi Ben,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. From what you've described, it sounds as if there may be a blockage in the wand or hose. To resolve this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc25/dc25-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/filter-washing-video

If the wand is difficult to reattach to the machine, it may be because the hose has become twisted during use. Remove the wand and allow the hose to straighten itself out before refitting the wand.

I hope this helps - if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call our customer Helpline 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Is there an extension hose available for dyson dc 25

Hi there,

Unfortunately we do not currently manufacture an extension hose compatible with DC25. The Quick-draw Telescope Reach wand supplied with the cleaner stretches to 4.4m (16ft), to reach to the top of an average staircase.

However, you may wish to visit www.dyson.com and click on 'Accessories' to view our full range of compatible dusting tools. Designed by the same engineers as the cleaners themselves, the tools are designed to remove dirt and pet hair from a wide range of floor surfaces, upholstery and the stairs.

I hope you find this information useful - if you have any further queries, please get in touch with us directly on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to provide the information and assistance you need.

Kind regards,

Jack
