Question about HP ProCurve 2524 24x10/100 Mbps Networking Switch

1 Answer

Network connections issue

I have an MSI K8MM-ILSR mainboard, it sends packets to my router but wont recieve, I have tried five cat6 and two cat5e cables, I have downloaded the latest driver and installed it. it has an LED built into the housing on the I/O, I have killed my firewall, anti-virus, I have uninstalled the adaptor and reinstalled. (VIA VT6102 Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter (PHY: VIA VT6103) PCI)... the LED on the back stays yellow(orange) and once in a while flickers green. ipconfig shows the router is asigning an IP, but the machine wont ping the router. it times out, again, Im sending packets but not recieving..

I need networking cables, which cables are best for use.

CAT6 cables & jacks are better than CAT5E.
CAT5E cables & jacks are better than CAT5.
CAT5 cables & jacks are better than CAT3.
CAT3 cables have problems going faster than 10Mbit/second.
CAT5 cables support 100Mbit/second, and seem to work with 1000Mbit/second ("gigabit") devices.

How to connect to xbox live

Get a cat5e or cat6e, connect the 360 to a router with that. Then, connect the router to your DSL or cable modem with another cat5e or cat6e cable unless your modem has a router built into it, then connect it directly to the modem. Then play!
