Question about Christie Vivid Lite Lamp, 150W EHP Projector Lamp

1 Answer

My projector a Christie Vivid Lite uses a 150w EHP lamp. EHP lamps seem to be rare and hard to find, I don't want to spend $300 on a light bulb. UHP lamps seem to be common and I can find suitable size and wattage lamps quite easy but the lumens seen to be considerably less. So my questions are, 1. Can a 150w UHP lamp be used in place of a 150w EHP lamp. 2. Can the projector handle using a higher watt lamp with equivalent lumens. Thanks for your help.

That is the model number "Christie Vivid Lite" details here "" and bulb details here "|150w~stampede.html" and the lamp I'm thinking about getting just to try here "". I did not think the higher watts would work but I didn't know if the EHP and UHP were interchangeable. What I understand is they are different types of gas. By the way I already purchased another projector off ebay but I would still like to get this one going again if possible, even if it's at a reduced lumen, but I don't want to spend a lot of money on it. My company is a Stamped dealer so I can get good prices on lamps but my projector is no longer supported, end of product life. But if I could find a good cross reference it may still be worth saving.
    Thanks again. Rich

Thanks for the help. The used lamp is just $10 and it's only to test whether I can make it work or not. If the used bulb doesn't work in then I'll just trash this projector. I use my projector instead of a TV. It's ran off my computer and I use a wireless mouse and keyboard so I can sit in my recliner and work, play or watch TV/movies. This projector cost me $120 at a local auction about a year ago and it had 75 hours on the bulb so I put 1500+ hours on it in 1 year I think I got my moneys worth. The projector I just bought is a Phillips which says to have a 6000 hour lamp life and bulbs are around $200. One bulb should last me at least three years at which time there will probably a something better than projectors available. Thanks again for your help. Rich

No, you can not use a higher wattage bulb. Where other lamp types can experience a significant performance and colour shift after a period of time, UHP lamps guarantee virtual constant performance over its lifetime without hotspots and color shifts whereas the ehp may. I would go with the UHP. If you want to give me your projector model number, I can see what I can find

wow man, I can't really find anything too cheap. Be careful with that used lamp, you don't know how long it will last. I personally use factory OEM lamp on mine. It costs more but they seem to work and last better. That is my experience but also depends on what you are using it for and how often

I would agree that you did get your money's worth, well, glad I could help, good luck with the 10 buck bulb lol

My Christie LX34 looks like the lamp is burned. There is a yellowish tint on about half of the screen. Someone told me it is the prism and not the lamp. Is this correct?

It is not the lamp so don't spend cash on a new one as they are very expensive - it sounds like one of the filters need replaced or another internal problem other than the lamp - if it was the lamp the whole screen would be effected and it would not be localised.

Hi, I have a Christie RoadRunner L6 Projector. When I turn it on the lamp light turns red and it does nothing. This unit does have dual lamps and a lamp replacement lamp light as well. I figured if it was...

I have a Christie RoadRunner L8 that fires up,lamps turn on and about 5 seconds after the lamps fire up it shuts down and both the warning temp. and ready lights flash at the same time. It seems to me it must be a sensor that tells it to shut down thinking that the machine is too hot-all the fans work and all of the filters are clean and it is moving serious air any clue and if so where do I start to look for such items? Thanks in advance Kirk

Christie Roadster 16k is about ready for a lamp replacement. Should the air filter be changed at the same time? If so, what's the Christie product number of the filter?

yes. it is recomended to replace the filters whenever the lamp is replaced. if you have a 500w lamp, use filter #003-120118-01; 1000w lamp, filter #003-120117-01; 1200w lamp, filter #003-120116-01.

What would cause a Christie to shut off after 60 secs?

On my Vivid Lite the projector will shut off when the lamp hour count reaches expected lamp life. It will restart only long enough to read the hour meter again then shut it's self off again. You can manually reset the hour meter to continue using the same lamp.

Christie Roadrunner 100

check to see if the fans are moving. if not, replace the fans. if the fans don't come up, the projector shuts down to protect the circuitry and the lamp. if the fans are fine, most likely the power supply/ballast is not producing enough power to keep the lamp lit and shuts down.
