SOURCE: GE Monogram ZISS480DMCS Ice Maker Problem

The water solenoid valve should have 120v going to it. (You will need a multimeter to chk this). You will need to also chk. for proper ground when verifying the 120v. If you get 120v on each of the pin clips, then your plug is not properly grounded, which means that you need a new ice maker circuit board. This is located in the in dispenser (front panel opens).

If you cant manually turn your auger motor, it may be bad. Does it dispense solid ice or no ice at all? Another thing may be your control panel. That could be bad too, it's the one sending juice to both your solenoid and auger motor.

SOURCE: frost building up in ice maker exit shoot and

Look into the dispensor , and see if the door flap is closing , or letting warm air in which will cause the frost buildup . If not closing completely , remove the top cover on the freezer door hinge , and unplug the plug . This will remove power to the door . Use a small screwdriver , and insert under the freezer door dispensor control board , and pry outward . Remove the 3 plugs on the board . Next , remove the 4 screws holding the white dispensor cover , and slide outward . At the top right , you will see a solenoid and plunger , which control the door flap . Usually , this plunger rusts on the solenoid . Replace both , the solenoid and plunger ( come together in kit ) Pt # WR62X10055 . Re-assemble in reverse .

How can I free up the ejector arm on an ice maker?

Worst case, Remove all frozen items. Turn off freezer or increase temperature to above 32f apply heat with a hair dryer or similar device to the Ice maker particularly near the bottom surface. This should allow you to remove the auger and all ice frozen to the auger. Perhaps less extreme steps can be used to accomplish the auger removal. There may be Ice maker "install" instructions that may make my explanation a little clearer.

Why won't ice dispense from ice maker?

Pull out the ice storage bin from the refrigerator. Empty the bin if it is full. Add some ice into the bin. Reinstall bin into refrigerator. Make sure the refrigerator door(s) are closed. The ice will not dispense if the door(s) are open. Press the ice dispenser with a glass underneath it to start dispensing ice. Listen for a whirring sound. If there is a sound, then the auger that moves the ice cubes is working. Check the ice shoot in the door to see if it is blocked with ice. If you don't here any whirring sound the motor that runs the auger is probably bad. Then you will have to replace the whole ice maker assembly.

Continuous knocking noise from ice maker. Ice maker has been off for past 3 months. Only thing that will make it stop is turning it off or unplugging it.

Hi Marcel,
Thank you for contacting fixya.

Our ice maker recently had its water inlet freeze up, preventing water from filling the trays. The mechanism kept dutifully trying to push nonexistent ice cubes into a bin that never filled up, which might account for the knocking noise in your case.
To defrost it we just unplugged the unit, took all the food out of the freezer section, and left the door open for a couple of hours. It wasn't long enough for any of the frozen food to defrost, and since we were careful to minimize opening the refrigerator section's door, the food in that part stayed cold enough to be safe as well.

NEED PROCEDURE FOR REMOVING THE ICE MAKER FOR INSPECTION AND TROUBLESHOOTING. FRIG IS NEW...ICE MAKER NOT MAKING ICE !!!!!

Are you sure you have the ice bin properly in place?

Ice bin must be locked in place for proper ice dispensing. If necessary, turn auger driver behind ice bin counterclockwise to properly align ice bin with auger driver.

• Press the switch ON to activate ice maker. Slide bin into guide rails located on either side of the enclosure. Push the ice bin in until resistance is felt. Raise the front slightly and push the ice bin completely in. An audible "click" is heard when the ice bin is located correctly.

• After freezer section reaches between 0° to 2° F (-18° to -17° C), ice maker fills with water and begins operating. You will have a complete harvest of ice

approximately every hour.

• Allow approximately 3 to 6 hours after installation to receive first harvest of ice.

• Discard ice created within the first 12 hours of operation to verify system is flushed of impurities.

• Stop ice production by pressing the ON/OFF switch located on the front of the ice maker.

• The first one or two batches will probably contain undersized and irregular cubes because of air in the supply line.

• When the ice cubes are ejected it is normal for several cubes to be joined together at the ends. They can easily be broken apart. The ice maker will

continue to make ice until the supply of ice cubes raises the ice maker arm, shutting the ice maker off.

• Certain sounds may accompany the various cycles of the ice maker. The motor may have a slight hum, the cubes will rattle as they fall into an empty storage bin and the water valve may click or "buzz" occasionally.

Do you hear any thing. You should hear the ice door open and the augur motor turning to turn the augur which pushes the ice out the door. If the augur doesn't turn Take all the ice out of the bin and try. perhaps the motor is too weak or the augur is locked up. Take the bin out and try to see if the motor will turn with no load. The motor is behind the back cover where the bin sits. See if you get power to it using a voltmeter when you try the dispenser. If you are, probably bad motor. If not ,dispenser switch or solenoid is not working.

There is a solenoid that operates the door that could have stopped working. Can you hear it?
The hinge on the door could be broken or the bracket it goes in could be broken. You'll have to look to see what's wrong.

Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components.

Whirlpool side by side GD27DQXFW01; ice cubes are not dispensing

We will need to check the voltage at the auger motor while depressing the dispense switch. If all the other features work on the dispenser panel while I would consider checking the voltage going to the motor. Some auger motors are in areas where water causes the voltage to be shorted by constant moisture. We will need to remove the panel and simulate what you have done on the outside but this time we need to see if the voltage has been altered or if the auger motor itself is defective. Sea Breeze

FRIGIDAIRE SIDE BY SIDE ICE DISPENSER

Have same or similar problem. MY problem turns out to be that the Auger turns fine, but there is a little metal blade that attaches to the end of the auger and transfers the spin action into this auger "hopper" (for lack of a better term) which actually accepts the ice that has been moved from the back of the ice bucket by the metal auger and then dispenses the ice into the hopper which falls into the glass. the issue is one of crappy design. It turns out that this little blade has a rectangular opening in the middle that the rectangular end of the auger fits into. If this rectangle opening gets stripped (as mine has done, and ALL are likely to do) then the auger spins, the ice is moved forward but none are picked up by the hopper, and none (or very few) fall into the glass.
Everyone should check to see if this is the case. If so you may need to order a new blade, or a new auger, or a new refrigerator.

Good Luck!
