Question about Maytag LAT3600A Top Load Washer

3 Answers

Washer is "dead." Was stopped after fill up, and now no power.

Maytag washer (model LAT8506AAE) filled with water, began washing. We opened lid to add more clothes and when we closed it, it is as if there was no power. Checked circuit breakers they are fine, tried plugging it into the dryer plug, and still "dead." The timer is not making any clicking noise at all. Is there a way to test the timer, and/or the push button switch that is triggered when you open the lid?

The wires on the lid switch are white (2), black (1), Green (1) and yellow (2). To jump the switch in an attempt to see if it is bad, which wires would I connect?

Hi, I would check the lid switch first. Remove the two screws that hold the control panel to the cabinet and let it rest on the hinges. Locate the lid switch connection and either test it for continuity or use an insolates wire and jump the switch by inserting the wire into the gray and brown wires. Turn the washer on and see if it works.
Please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Hi, The diagram I looked upp show to jump the white and yellow wires.

If you haave a meter, you should unplug the wires and test the switch for continuity. With the lid closed, there should be continuity between the post that the wite and yellow wire connect to.

Try pushing firmly on the center of the lid.... with the lid closed... it could be that the lid switch isn't making proper contact to turn the machine on.
If this is the case, you can open the lid, and while holding the lid open with one hand, put firm pressure on the rear lip of the lid right in the center..where it makes contact with switch...
This was a common occurence at my laundromats because people would sit/stand on the machines..
Hope this gets ya up and runnin'

Machine filled with water then just began beeping. Never started to wash the clothes. When turned off and then on again, it makes a buzzing noise and nothing happens.

If your buzzing noise stops after a few seconds, it could be the motor failing to start. If it sounds like a signal buzzer, it could be indicating the lid open, or a failed lid switch.

Maytag washer, model: LAT8415AAE top loader. Washer fills with water but will not start agitating, spin or drain.

Check lid switch. Most will not run with lid open and the switch may not be pressed down when door is closed

Washer will not fill with water

Check the lid switch...this controls all power to the machine and if the lid isn't closed, it can interrupt the water fill even with the lid appearing to be closed. Press firmly on the center of the lid when it's closed. Sometimes the lids on these maytags get tweaked a little and then don't allow full contact with the switch... Let me know ..

Maytag Washer Just Stopped After it Filled With Water (Timer?)

Cant rule out the timer but I suspect first check the lid switch. The timer and other components are fed from the lid switch on most models. Just put the2 wires together and reapply power if it works replace the lid switch. If not you'll have to have a wire diagram to know where to check next, but your water level switch "fill switch" could be at fault. it stops the water valve 1 way and can energize the rest of the circuits the other way. It may not be closing in the "full" direction. Again this switch if so wired will have 3 wires on it.

Top loading Maytag washer Model #A9700 washer fills with water then stops, no washing, no spinning

When the machine worked would the machine stop in the wash cycle when you lift the lid? If so you might check your lid switch.

Wash cycle will not start

you may have leaned on lid and damaged the lid switch , so the washer thinks the lid is open all the time unit will fill then stop with lid up.
