Question about GE Profile JVB67 36" Telescopic Downdraft Ventilation System: Bisque on Bisque Kitchen Hood
Grease is dripping under downdraft into cabinet. I have two filters in the system, which I clean about once a month in the dishwasher. I always wipe away visible grease after cooking, but can't reach my hand down into the unit very far. How do I clean all the grease out of the unit?

SOURCE: No Air suction into downdraft.
there won't be any noticable suction like with a vacuum unless the cfm rating is very high. the distance of the hood from the cooking surface is a factor too as you are sucking in room air besides the stove fumes and steam.

You were right. The locking mechanism switch somehow became jammed and the oven thought the door was locked, even though I could open the door. I didn't know if I was supposed to take the top off and moving the lever back and forth did not help. Finally I turned the oven on and just kind of jiggled the latch in the unlocked position. I kind of moved it back and forth furiously and the cleaning light stopped blinking and the oven light came on. I'm glad it is working now, but I will be manually cleaning my oven from now on! Thanks for your help.

First--Look for a couple release levers around the bottom of the oven. You should remove the bottom and scrape the spilled grease off. If you can't remove it, clean off what you can before using a standard ovencleaner. It will still need to be washed well before firing it up.
Easy Off Oven Cleaner has been around for years.
