Line of Laptop Displap

I have 2, 1.25'' wide vertical lines on the right side of my paneldisplay. Its a HP Pavilion dv8140us Notebook, 17'' Media Center grade display. how do I fix this?
Tried an external monitor, no lines appeared--so video card must be fine??
Thanks Ron

You could have a faulty LCD screen or a faulty video cable/connector.
Try reseating the video cable/connector that connects to the motherboard. If this doesn't work a replacement LCD screen may be required.
Check LCD Parts for parts and repair service, Use this link.

What is happening to your laptop is the power line connecting a row of pixels is failing so only partial colors are showing up causing the vertical lines. Usually screen replacement is the only answer to fix it. You can usually find replacement LCD on Ebay.

Unfortunately, there is no way to fix it.
This line called "Tab Separation" of LCD.
You'll need whole new LCD display.
Very very common problem.

Vertical lines approx 2"wide appear on screen and remain after re

Your lcd is going out. Either that or your video card.

You can verify this by hooking up an external monitor to your laptop. If you see lines or distortion on the external it's the video card ( GPU ).

If you don't, it's probably the lcd.

90% of the time it's the lcd.

Easiest and cheapest way to fix it is to purchase an lcd from ebay and then just swap them.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Best of luck!

Thin blue line

Hi!

This is a phisical hardware problem with the screen.
If the system is under warranty better take back so your vendor replace the screen.

I think is the only solution.

This is a progressive problem, day a day you will be seen more and more lines until the screen become death.

Vertical white line on laptop display

Yes, this is a defective screen. The only fix is to replace the screen. It's called a column of dead pixels. Since it is under warranty, contact HP to have them warranty it out or take it back to the place you purchased it from for an exchange. Please take a moment and give this answer a good rating of fixya. Thank you.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Try using an external monitor, every laptop has a blue VGA connector, just connect a monitor there and check is those lines
disappear,if it does, probably you have a problem with the internal connection of your monitor to the motherboard.
