There can be many different ways why this is happening, first does it flicker ALL the time or does it happen when you open and close the lid? If it happens all the time it could be either of three things! First plug another monitor into by using a VGA lead to test if the video chip on the motherboard is working. If you get an image on the extension monitor then you know that's working, next you would have to check or even replace the inverter which supplies voltage to the screen, then if this is working ok you may have a faulty screen itself which is quite easy to replace if you have a modicom of technical ability. Of course it may be a motherboard problem, such as spillages going onto the keyboard etc..
The inverter replacement is the cheapest first option but if you are not competent then I'm afraid it's a visit to your local PC repair shop, good luck!!

Black screen on sony vaio vpcef44fx

You need to go to your CMOS setup, I think that you lost the primary default boot drive. it should be set to your HD and not to a usb drive or a cd rom or any other device.
I am assuming that you do not get the "Starting windows" screen.

Hi
Try using the latest browser versions like IE9, Fire Fox 4.0, ..

I recommend Mozilla Fire Fox 4, it's nice, and free ;-)

And be sure to install Adobe Flash, it's important for video to run in the browser.

Please, Tell us your results
Good Luck

How to remove the keyboard?

Remove all of the screws on the bottom, as well as the RAM, hard drive, and CD/DVD drive. Then, while the laptop is open, lift up the upper plastic covering on the bottom (you might need a key to get in there) from here, you should be able to see the keyboard mounting screws, make sure you remove the keyboard cable from the motherboard as you remove the keyboard.
