Question about Toshiba Office Equipment & Supplies
When scanning in the top feeder, a horizontal line appears near the bottom of the page. This does not happen when placing copies on the glass. I restarted the printer and made copies but got the same result. I checked and cleaned the glass the feeder used as well.

Ah, the beauty of digital manipulation :)
In the old days you would have to change the paper in the tray too...
I've been looking online for the glass, and can't locate it. They will charge you a bundle for a piece of glass anyway (I know Konica charges about $50 one).
As to the question of a sensor. If there's no wire on it, there's no sensor. Some manufacturers use a "coating" that goes to a ground wire for anti-static, etc. Most likely, yours doesn't require this.
Also, to prolong the life of the new glass (now don't tell ALL of my secrets) use armor-all, car wax, even pledge (the wood stuff) on a rag and buff the glass. Just a dab will do.
I'll keep looking online for the part for ya.

There must be a strip of glass about one inch wide, next to
the large glass. There is the problem !
Clean that strip thourougly. When you use the feeder the pages
are scanned thru the small strip of glass.

SOURCE: Print Problem - vertical lines
I have MFC 7820N. Noticed same problem as other when making copies. Vertical line used to appear.
Open the Scanner where you can see the glass - Flatbed ( where you put the documents to copy)
Make sure that Glass is Clean.
Now make there is Glass on left side about 1x9 inch. Make sure this glass is clean. I had rubbery stain on that I had to rub it off.
Vertical line does not appear when I make copy from Feeder or Flatbed.
