Re: Printing issue

The printer is in sleep mode. You should be able to press the GO button to bring it out of this state and the printer should then be in READY mode.

ISSUE: Printer has a blank display.

Check if the printer is connected directly into a wall outlet. If not directly connected, power off the printer and connect directly to wall outlet.

Disconnect any local or network connection from any device and keep the printer connected with the power cord cable.

Power cycle the printer. If the issue persists, continue with step 4. If the printer powers up to READY, perform the following steps:

Print a configuration page and check the firmware version. If the printer does not have the latest firmware version, upgrade the printers firmware. Click here to see the latest firmware available for your printer at . Select Download driver and software (and firmware) and type in the product name or select the product from the product category list.

When the firmware upgrade is completed, power cycle the printer and print a configuration page again and check firmware date code, (it should change to the latest version) then power cycle the printer again.

If the printer powers up to READY, plug the local or network cable back in and print a Windows test page by printing from any application.

If the issue persists, continue with step 4 below.

Remove any additional memory DIMM installed (usually the LaserJet P3005N, DN and X come with a 32 MB memory DIMM installed), and any Internal EIO card or internal hard disk installed and then power cycle. If the issue persists, continue with the next step.

Perform a cold reset:

Turn the device off.

Turn the device on. When the memory count begins, press and hold the check button. Continue holding down the check button until all three device control-panel lights flash once and then remain on. This might take up to 10 seconds

After the message SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the display, press the arrow up or arrow down buttons until COLD RESET is highlighted.

Press the check button. The device performs a cold reset and then continues its power-on sequence.

If the issue persists, continue with the remaining steps.

If the printer powers up to READY, test the printer functionality by printing internal pages. Plug the local or network connection in and test the printer from the workstation.

If the issue persists without any internal device installed, the printer will require service.

My printer is connected to computer, however the on button is not on, screen shows initiating then small block goes on , but it does not engage to print.

Hi there, my name is Lisa and I'd be happy to help. I understand you are unable to print. Let's start with a hard reset. To do so, leave the printer on and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. While it is unplugged, hold down the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release any built up power, then after the minute has passed, plug the printer back in.

If the issue persists, I'd recommend you download and run the HP print and Scan Doctor. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues:

If you require further assistance please comment on my response and I will gladly do all I can to help. Thanks.

Network Printing Issue. I'm running 2008 Domain Controller 2003 File and Print Server. Cisco 3560G switches No 3rd Party print management software User workstations are all Windows Xp Pro SP2 Printers are...

DNS errors then? can you map to the printer via hostname too? Are you sure you're not using SP3? When we upgraded to SP3, we had to use the new drivers. Try new drivers.Have you tried just rebuilding your print server? try sharing the printer off your computer in the data center and try t print to that. When you ping the data center from the user's computer... what is the delay?

or if its software related:
the easyest way is right from here click on file on the top left goto page setup in the drop down menu.
paper size should be letter
on the bottom right of that you will see 3 tabs |ok| |cancel| and |printer|
Click on the printer tab and then another window will open and click on properties this will bring you to yet another window but the one you will need to be in to make sure all is correct with your printing software.
ushally there is a default setting there as well this ushally fixes the issues with the software end reseting it back to normal.
accept and then reboot your computer just so all changes are locked in and then plug the printer back in after the hard reset and all your issues should have been soloved.
