Probably a bad alternator. Take it to someplace like pep boys and have them test it for free. You can also get a volt meter and check the battery when key is off and removed from ignition. Then turn on the car and check it when the engine is running. Should be more than 12.5. The alternator has to charge the battery and power everything on the vehicle when the key is on. The battery basically completes the electrical system circuit while the car is running and only really uses its power to start the engine and energize the ignition until the alternator is running.

The battery isn't charging some thing keeps killing the battery. The alt seems to be working but the battery want hold a charge for very long.

Have the battery load tested to determine it's ability to take & hold a charge. It could have a bad cell that will drain the good cells. Your local auto parts will test the battery free of charge.
I hope this helps.

Battery is dead 2004 nissan frontier v6

Check the alternator and battery clemmas/wires coming from alternator. It looks like no charge from it coming to battery. If it is second battery already this is the sign. You can do it free of charge at autozone store. But any way as a temporary solution you can buy battery charger ($25 walmart) and charge the battery back if battery is damaged you will see it right away (it wont be charging). After you charge battery back start the engine run it for 30 minutes (if Alternator OK it is enough to charge battery back), stop and start again. If no start alternator is a problem.
Good Luck

2001 Nissan Frontier

waste of time doing that
alternators need to put out 14.5-14.8 volts dc to work properly
could be the alternator , voltage regulator or drive belt adjustment
best if you take it to an accredited auto electrician for a charge circuit system test
