Make sure to download the printer's driver before connecting it to the computer. It can be found here Drivers Downloads. On this same page, under the misc section, be sure to download the Fargo Workbench application. It is essential to updating firmware and diagnosing future issues.

After driver has been downloaded and UnZip'd to a folder (I usually put it on the desktop for easy locating), Connect the print to your computer. the computer should prompt you with "new device" or something of that nature.

Go to Start (bottom left of your desktop) then to "Printers and Faxes" or "Printers and Devices" (depending on your version of windows). Check to see if Fargo DTC 550 is listed in your printer section.

Make sure to set the DTC 550 as your Default Printer, on this screen or through the ID badging program you are using.

If your printer won't print when you're making a copy using the Copy button on the operator panel, it could be due to your ink cartridges. Try to re-seat your ink cartridges into the printer and make sure they are properly seated.
If you're not able to print from your computer, it could be a communication problem. A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if usb-connected), reboot your computer and unplug/replug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Try to print again.

My printer wont print at all

Are you able to make a copy using the copy button on the printer operator panel? If not, try to reseat your cartridges into the cartridge carrier. If yes, then the problem could be due to a communication failure between the printer and your computer.
A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your computer. Unplug and re-plug your printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it your computer. Try to print again.
You can also try to re-install the printer driver on your computer to repair any possible corrupted files necessary for printer communication and processes.

Printer wont comunicate with Computer

Try to unplug your printer from your computer. Unplug and replug your printer into the power source to reset itself. When your printer turns on completely, reconnect to your computer. Try to print again. If problem continues, you may refer to these articles in the Lexmark website:

I have a dell v305 printer that wont communicate to my computer when i try to print. The scanner works fine it just wont print it also said enable bidirectional communication where is that?

check for the printer drivers go to start and right click on my computer icon then click manager in the manager menu look for device manager click on that........
u will find list of devices of your system search the printer there and just update the driver by rt clicking on printer icon

When tryn to print something the computer says it cant communicate and wont print

Remove the USB cable, uninstall the driver and reinstall the printer, if you do not know how to do this, there will be a help file on the driver disk.

I just had my computer serviced and cleared of virus. Now computer wont activate to communicate with printer. I've already tried everything suggested by the display. Computer has recognised the printer but...

delete the printer icon from the printer display window and reinstall.

you will need the driver CD that came with the printer if the printer model is not in the Windows printer install list.

I have tried to set up this wireless printer on my laptop (windows vista basic). I run through installation and get message - installation complete and the green indicator light is fully on. When I try and print I get message Printer cannot communicate with computer - please turn on 'Enable Biodirectional Communication' in printer properties. I go to control panel/printer/propertie/ports/ and I see Enable Biodirectional communication - the box is grayed out and I cannot enable it. Any suggestions?

Printer wont print and cant delete the printer

first restart your computer,,and then log the computer in administrator mode...and after that uninstall the printer driver..
and restart the computer again..
and if you want to install can .

Printer 924 dell cant communicate with computer

cannot comunicate means you have to reinstall the driver again, could be corrupted after the virus, also communication problem could be from the cable you use, check both.
