There is a thing called a suppressor which is normally located in the foot control which has fused, you need to open the foot control and you should see a a small thing that looks liuke a fuse connected to the two terminals which you need to take out and discard because you don't need it any more, if you don't have on in the control then it will be on the motor which means you will have to take it in for repair.

Mine does the exact same thing. I think the problem might lie in the cord to the foot pedal. The cord packs into the foot pedal for storage, which forces the cord to to remain bent during storage. I believe the wires in mind became damaged and broken so I took it apart and reconnected the wires at the spot where the connector meets with the wires. But I still don't leave it plugged in if I'm not using it, it could be a fire hazard.

SOURCE: foot pedal not working
yes, it is possible that the foot pedal can go out,, it would be a good
idea to have the foot pedal checked at a repair shop to see for

Testimonial: "I went to sewing machine store today and the pedal checked out as dying, so ordered a new one. Thx again!"
SOURCE: Run away foot pedal.
I had this problem with my Janome and also after I was given a new foot pedal as well, even though no fault could be found with it. I then suspected power surges as my computer went haywire at the same time on one occasion. I have never yet had the problem since I started to use surge sockets. I have only ever had the problem with my computerised machine, not my other although the foot pedals are the same.
