Question about 2wire 2700HG-B Router (2700HGB)
I have been trying to open the ports (6112-6119) for a game called Warcraft 3. I followed the portforward.com model, for my 2wire 1000hg network, but with no avail. I got to my firewall settings as prescribed, I create a new user defined app, with specified tcp and udp and add it to the list. I then click on the option "allow indivdual apps" and click add, the screen refreshes, but nothing is added, and it is reset to maximum security. I don't know what to do. Also, I know I am supposed to select the computer for the open ports, but I have two computers which both have the same IP adress as their name and can't tell the difference. Please help.
The 2wire HG is an old 2Wire, they've come out with several models since that one. It sounds like the firmware isnt working correctly. You can try resetting it to factory default. If you do that, hold the reset button down for at least 30 seconds. 2wires take a good 2-3 minutes to re-syncronize.
When you have solid green lights, open Internet Explorer and it will say page cant be displayed. Clean out the address bar up top where you normally type www stuff (and make sure its the address bar, not the seach bar so many people use). Type 172.16.0.1 to get into the router. Run the system setup wizzard on the right. When it asks you to put in a password, it means make one up. Then you need to click on run system set up wizzard again. The key code should already be in there and end in F2NV. Click next, set your time zone, click next, put in your userID and password, click next, after the reds dots, you should be online. Now go back in and try to open your ports. If they dont stay open this time, then you need to think about swapping the router out. The newest model is the 2701.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
