What supplies voltage to spark plugs?

The spark on the 25 hp Kohler is Magneto. There is likely an interlock to the PTO and Seat safety interlock. The magneto appears in some lawn garden applications to be connected via the safety interlock?

So when the engine turns the magnetic field of the flywheel activated the engine spark but if the interlock safety switches are not enabled the spark the magneto is disabled resulting in no spark. A lost spark is likely a defective or corroded switch.

I hope this helps?

I have a toro riding lawn mower i need to change the mag needle

just because it wont start doesn't mean your MAGNETO is shot. There could be a short in the ground wire. A damaged high tension lead. Do the tests and figure it out. A magneto can be costly .

How to change a magneto on a riding lawn mower

Remove the end cover (where a rope starter is or would be). Remove the magneto attachment nut. Acquire a magneto puller. Attach it to the magneto, crank it until the magneto pops off. Find the little rectangular key (which might have popped off the shaft when the magneto popped off), and make sure it's seated in its little groove in the shaft. Place the new magneto on the shaft, install its attachment nut, crank it down.

I have a J D L110 ride mower been going thru batteries changed solenoid and starter kit got new battery and again won t start after a few hours use is it magneto? is magneto in the ignition switch?

The engine has an alternator for charging the battery, you may have to check to see if it is working properly. There is most likely a couple of wires hooked up to the bottom of the carburetor. This is a solinoid valve called a back fire preventer, and is an electrical load, like the lights are an electrical load, and with no charging it will slowly drain the battery to the point that you can not start the engine.

I hope this helps get you going.

I have a 82 gs550l if i charge the battery and then ride it the battery wont stay charged and when the headlight is on it drains the battery even faster

You have either a rectifier or charging coil(magneto) issue. The rectifier changes the AC pulse from the magneto to 12V DC. If that checks out, you'll need to test the magneto. Either case you'll need to have a multimeter handy and access to the factory repair manual for the testing parameters and wiring diagrams. Good luck!

My sears 13 1/2h.p. riding mower engine turns over, but there is no spark.

It is a magneto-generated spark. If all of the interlocks are in good shape, I suspect that you will have to replace the magneto module.

You may have to change the magneto.
That's the return circuit which charges the battery.
