Question about Hobart D300 Stand Mixer

Open Question

D300, shaft stops under load only in first speed.

I have had mixer apart three times. Every component is free and in good shape. I have replaced the spring strips in the one way clutch, but the shaft can be stopped when running in first speed by simply grabbing the shaft. Second and third speed, I have not been able to grab the shaft to see if it stops, but my cust has no complaints with second and third speeds. Slowley this is driving me crazy. Any insight would be appreciated.

SOURCE: Whining noise in all three speeds.

There is only one bearing in the back a an A200, the rear motor bearing. Page 12 -- Otherwise I'd look for something rubbing the motor. (wire, capacitor shield) The two back side covers are easy to remove, two screws each.

The timer is also in the link. The part is not cheap, but easy to install.

SOURCE: gear problem

Cheers Bigg t for the reply, I got the mixer fixed by our local ish catering equipment supplier, they said it was a damaged fibre gear, repair cost £190 plus our transport costs to get the mixer to them.
It is now working well and making bread every morning.

Check the spring pin that locks the motor shaft to the main drive gear in the gear box. You should be able to turn the motor from the back at the cooling fins and watch the shaft spin in the gear, that is if the pin is sheared. That is a common problem. if you plan on keeping this machine for a while, i recomend that you spend a little more on a quality spring pin,

Do you have videos on how to fix a D300 hobart mixer transmission

I don't think they ever made a video for that.
The grease in the D300 is sticky and runny, and has to be removed out the top once the bearing plate is removed. On the top of the main shaft is the first gear cluster and a bevel gear beneath it. If necessary, use a pulley, BUT KEEP IT AS ONE ASSEMBLY.
Once it's out, the rest comes apart easily. Just lay out the components as you find them. Clean and inspect.
The first gear is made of the bevel gear as a base, a center hub with an outer ring gear, and a stepped cover on top that sits under the top bearing. Between the ring gear and the hub are 10 rollers and spring plates which bias the rollers into the shallower end of each roller seat.
You can get instructions and diagrams here.

search model number d300. near the bottom of the options is form F-3492-N. That has detailed instructions for the older version.

Kp2671 stops and starts

It is not going to be a problem with the motor. It is going to be a chipped/damaged gear, a bent planetary center shaft pin, or possibly the planetary itself.

The first thing you need to do is take the mixer apart. You are going to have to clean of all of the gears and inspect them very closely. I recommend using paper towels and wd-40. If there is any damage, the gear will need to be replaced, in some cases the pin that sits between the worm follower gear and bevel gear can become bent, if it is, it also needs to be replaced. If all of the gears, bearings, and the pin are in perfect shape inspect your planetary assembly. In some cases the center shaft, which is pressed into the planetary can become loose, so it will still spin under no load, but as soon as you put something in the bowl it stops spinning.

Here is a link to the KitchenAid service manual. This will walk you through how to take the mixer apart, and put it back together: http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/mendingshed/kitchenaid6qtservicemanual.pdf

Please let me know if you have any questions, or need help with the repair.

My Hobart D300 mixer appears to be leaking oil/grease

Hi,I'm a hobart tech and repair these mixer's often. If you see oil in the drip cup then the center shaft seal in the transmission is worn.If there is oil near the transformer then the motor shaft seal is also bad.Hobart doesnt release their service manuals to the public but if you go to their site www.hobartcorp.com you can register for free and get a parts manual thats helpful. If you need help with the repair let me know,i can step you through it.

Hobart d-300 mixer

To Whom it May Concer: At the school I work we have a Hobart D-300 Mixer. When we mix bread dough it pulls alot of current and trips the breaker. The max current draw on the name plate is 10.1 amps. I have seen the current go over 30 amps during the mixing process. Under no load the mixer pulls 7.8 amps. I dont have any information about this machine on paper and I can only go so far with troubleshooting.
My questions to you are: Is it normal for the mixer to draw 7.8 amps under no load? And is their a manual online I can look at so I can check the oil levels and make sure I do not have a low oil/needs greasing condition.
Thanks for your help and time,
