Question about Garden
After 30-40 min. the tractor surges and then dies. After sitting for an hour it starts right up and runs again for another 30-40 min before surging and quitting again. I have replaced the fuel lines, filter and verified the vent in gas cap. Ignition Module? It is a Kawasaki liquid cooled v-twin 15hp.
It sounds as though the coil is heating up and shorting out. Do you know how to get to the coil to replace it? Anyway check the coil by inserting Phillips head screwdriver into the coil wire, hold by the handle so wire is 3/8 to 1/2 inch from the cylinder head or bolt and crank the engine and look for blue spark. No spark or weak yellow spark the coil is bad. Do this check the next time it quits on you. If you need instructions on how to get to the coil, get back to me.
Hope this helps, plese post solved on fixya.com.So I get credit for a solved problem if it does. If not, check back and give me more info.

Hi..my name is Keith...and the engine is running too lean..and with you choking it..it richens the mixture..so its a carb problem..and that could be several things..1)..is the main metering jet needle on the bottom of the float bowl needs to be turn out until the engine runs smooth..or 2) the carb to engine gasket is bad and its sucking air..or 3)..the passage ways in the carb is stopped up..i hope one of these will help..if not please write me back

You have a defective ignation coil. When the engine gets hot, the winding in the coil opens and the engine stops. After it cools down, it will again make contact and start again. If you don't know where the coil is, follow the wire from the spark plug. The spark plug wire is attached to the coil from the factory. It's easy to replace with a 1/4 inch socket set. Set the magnet to coil gap with a standard business card.

You have dirt in the fuel tank and it sucks the dirt up on the filter that is attached to the pump. After the machine stalls, the dirt falls off and it will restart and run for a few min.
