Wash will not drain

I had been experiencing a problem where the washer would not totally complete the spin cycle. I would then reset the dial to the spin cylce again and it would complete it. Now however, The water will not drain after the wash cycle. It completes the wash cycle, the water does not drain and moving the dial around does no good. Any suggestions?

Do not hear any humming when the cycle goes into drain. I was able to depress the lid switch manually with a screwdriver. It was not locked in place or anything. Could that still be the problem?

Hi, When the cycle goes into drain, do you hear the motor humming at all? If the motor does not hum, check the lid switch.
If the washer agitates, there must be a problem with lid switch ot timer. The lid switch is most common.
Please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.

It is stil poosible. Remove the two screws holding the control panel to the cabinet it will hinge up. Under the control panel you will see the lid switch connection. Unplug the lid switch and test it. One way to test the lid switch is to use an insolated wire and jump across the gray and tan wire in the harnes leading to the timer. Put the washer into spin cycle and see if it starts. The other way to test the lid switch with the washer unplugged, test the lid switch connection fastened in the cabinet ans see if there is coninuity while the lid switch is closed.

If the lid switch checks out ok, locate the harness on the timer and unplu it from the timer only to plug it back in. Sometimes the harness wwil lose connection.

I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

My admiral washer does not work on wash cycle. It will rinse and spin on any cycle but wash

hi Marilyn.
this is what i have found but not sure if this will help you out,if not go to the link at the bottom and see if it helps you out.

Step 1

Make sure the washer's cord is plugged in to a functioning outlet if the Admiral washer won't fill with water. Check your circuit breaker to make sure the power is on and reset it if necessary. Reset the dial and start the washer again. Turn both of the washer's faucets on to full power. Untangle any inlet hoses to remove clogs. If this doesn't work, your hose filter screens could be clogged. Disconnect the hoses from the washer and clean the screens of any residue.

Step 2

Close the washer's lid completely if the Admiral washer will not agitate. The washer will not start if the lid is open. Restart the washer by setting the control dial to the desired cycle. Momentary pauses during cycles can be expected. You may need to wait a minute or two to see if the washer starts. Check the circuit breaker to make sure the washer is getting power. Reset the circuit breaker if necessary.

Step 3

Check and reset the circuit breaker as above if the Admiral washer will not spin or drain. Untangle any of the washer's hoses to allow water into the machine. Check your drains for clogs that may be preventing water to move into the washing machine. Close the lid and restart the washer. The washer will not start if the lid is not completely closed. If there are excessive soap bubbles in the washer, the washer may have locked up because of this. Wash the load again without adding detergent.

Step 4

Rearrange the laundry so it is evenly distributed if the Admiral washer stops or if laundry is still wet at the end of a cycle. Untangle any laundry from the center post in the wash tub. Select the correct water level for the amount of laundry. Select a normal spin cycle for jeans, towels or other heavy loads. Close the lid and start the washer.

Step 5

Check the hoses to make sure they are tightly connected to the Admiral washer if it leaks water. If they are loose, tighten them with a screwdriver. Make sure the drain hose is secured to the drainage area. Avoid putting too much laundry in your machine or soaking laundry for over 30 minutes.

Step 6

Make sure the Admiral washer is on a level plane if it is excessively noisy. If it is not on even ground, move the washer so that it is level. Remember that some washer noise is normal. Thin floors can cause the washer to vibrate and move about and the noise level may rise and fall depending on the speed of the cycle.

My the front load washer model gcvh6900jww has the red lock on the display. I accidentally held the start button for a few seconds and it locked. I tried holding the start button again for up to 20 seconds...

  1. Found This HelpfulSometimes something will go wrong in your washing machine that will cause it to lock up or stall. An overloaded washer or a brief power surge can cause this. The washer may not drain or spin properly, or it may stop the cycle in the middle of the wash. Another cause may be that the washer was stopped before the cycle was able to complete. In this case, the washer will spin and drain over the next 24 hours, but it will stall before reaching the final spin. GE has two simple methods to reset the controls
For Newer Washers:
    • 1 Unplug the washer.
    • 2 Twist the control dial around the cycle settings.
    • 3 Place the dial on any setting other than the final spin.
    • 4 Ensure that the water line is securely attached to the washer.
    • 5 Plug the washer back into the wall (making sure it has gone at least 30 seconds without power).

Of course it was from the water pump that was attached to the tub...Who would design something like that.

Washer (total care system) is making a humming noise even though I've taken all the clothes out of it. The agitator works, but there's a humming noise. I've stopped it and re-started it, but...

Hi

1 of 2 things could be the trouble.

Does the washer drain properly if you manually turn the control knob? If not then this sounds like your pump is either plugged with possible lint and can't move or has died completely. 99% chance pump is the problem and 99% chance it can be an easy fix by cleaning the pump where the Drain Line is attached, worst case scenario pump is to be replaced, but not a overall expensive fix and most can do it without a technician.

Second problem is possibly the time itself, but if the washer is going through all cycles except spin then pump is likely the culprit, cause in spin cycle the machine has to drain the water from the unit as it spins, if it cannot the washing machine basically stops and cannot complete the cycle.

One way to tell for sure if the pump is the problem. When the machine enters the spin cycle and starts making that noise. Manually turn the dial a little bit till it passes the spin cycle, if it continues to wash till it hits the final spin/drain cycle then stops again...your pump is in need of help.

Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept the solution.

Unit runs good through wash cycle then while in rinse and spin does not complete cycle. The machine starts doing a short spin, and then dial starts turning around without stopping.

Sounds as if the drain pump is not ejecting the water fast enough. Did you notice of the washer is draining more slowly than usual or at all?
