Time display is missing on a Kenwood KDC- MP232

Time display is missing on a Kenwood KDC- MP23. Instead of flipping back the time display after switching stations. The display constantly shows what station it is currently playing. We have tried to go through and just set the time, but the radio knows what time it is, it just doesn't show it.

Any help is appreciated as this is for my boyfriend's car radio.

SOURCE: Wiring for a kenwood kdc 1020 cd player

if you have the wire connector it's easy.....give the negative conection to the body of the player..find the wire from the battery with has the power supply even when the switch is off..and connect it to the yellow wire.that is for the memory...find the wire which has the power when the switch is on ,and connect it to the red wire from the player....what i mean by switch is the ignition switch... u can easily find the speaker connections...most speaker wires comes as blue,ash,green,white...there are two wires from each colour......

SOURCE: wiring diagram for a kenwood KDC MP232

Aftermarket cd players are all universal and have the same colors. You need to go to your local car audio store such as walmart, bestbuy, ect and buy a wire harness adapter. Then all the wires are color coordinated to make it easy, just wire colored wires together and plug in. If I have helped please leave positive feedback. Thanks

On display is says "protect" what does that mean?

Try disconnecting the power supply to the back of the mp232 then reconnecting it. This worked for me AFTER doublechecking all of my speaker connections.

Security

"Protect" isn't for security on a Kenwood; it's caused by a problem with the speaker output. There may be a defect in the CD player, or you may have a blown speaker or a shorted speaker wire in the vehicle. Try disconnecting all the speakers and see if the unit still shows "protect" when you turn it on. If it still shows the "protect" message with no speakers connected, the unit needs to be serviced; if not, re-connect the speakers one at a time until you find out which one is causing the problem.
