You can get schematics at www.dewalt.com

the only way (without harm the armature) is to use a bearing puller or the bearing press with the separator. maybe u can loan it from autozone of advance auto parts, cause is a common tool among car mechanics.

SOURCE: dewalt cordless drill dc988- drill motor works

Test the brushes by catching it in a stalled condition when you have it triggered, then rotate it slightly. If it takes off suspect the brushes or a dead segment on the comutator.

If it doesn't respond to this, then consider the VSR trigger... open it and test by bypassing it when in stalled condition...

probably need to remove the brushes from the other end as the rear bearing is bigger than the commutator section and the brushes fall in to the section and hit the bearing preventing what you want to do

Is there a way to remove the shaft bearing from a dewalt choose with out a puller

if the bearing is on the armature shaft
pull the armature from the case and place the armature in a vise (free) with a flap bar on either side under the bearing across the jaws of the vice
use a soft hammer and hit on the end of the shaft driving the armature down and out of the bearing
get a friend to help to hold the plates and the armature

My d25650 runs very hot and releases a little bit of smoke. Will replacing the brushes take care of this problem

Probably not. The heat and releasing smoke part is concerning. When brushes fail either one of two things happens. Either the tool just quits or if worn down far enough it can short out the armature. You may have a bearing (possible armature bearings) getting ready to lock up.

How do I fix an armature

If you have a broken wire sometimes you can strip the varnish from the wire and solder it back on the commutator, or back to the other part of the broken wire depending on what happend. If it lost a commutator bar fixing it yourself would be very hard. Either send it off to Eurton Electric for rewind or buy a new armature.

Dewalt 214 hammer driver smokes when it runs

Billy, The smell of the smoke is awful? Most likely the armature windings are going bad. I personally have an 18 DeWalt with the same problem.
I did some research and could not find that particular model DeWalt. If it is more than 10 years old it will probably be cheaper to replace it with a new one than to get the part, and have it repaired. Most types of DeWalt motors require not only the armature (the most expensive part) but new bearings and brushes. The parts + labor to repair adds up very quickly.
I strongly suggest you do not use the drill until it has been fixed. If it is a corded version, please leave it unplugged. If you are going to scrap it please cut the cord off so no unsuspecting garbage picker picks it up and tries to use it.
Please let me know if you have any other questions

Drill Is Dead Fuse O.K.

Check the brushes for wear.
Most likely the cord has a broken wire , usually happens close to the handle of the drill.
To test, split the case ( puzzle screwdriver bits are avaliable from hobby shops ) and run a test light on the cord from the plug to the switch.
If the cord is ok , test the switch , they are quite flimsy on De Walt tools so be careful.
If the cord is faulty cut the damaged section out and shorten it.
If the switch, replace it . Check price, they are very hard to get here in New Zealand and very expensive.
If the Brushes, these should be avaliable from your De Walt retailer.
While you have your drill apart, check the bearings, De Walt uses common sizes, easily avaliable from a bearing shop and prone to seizing up and burning out the armature.

Dewalt cordless 12v drill, 3speed model...spinning problem

Sounds like your brushes are either damaged or the armature is failing the current. Remove the brushes first and inspect them, that is where your arcing is coming from. If the brushes appear ok, your problem is in the armature itself. Regardless of low use, if you store the unit with the battery attached, there are issues with the current draw while stored.

I need to change the bearings on the amature of a dewalt tile saw

I looked at a breakdown and there is no clip. Sometimes the bearing is tough to pull out of the gearcase. Do you have a dead blow hammer? Sometimes I have to apply pressure (pulling) to the armature and tap the gearcase make sure that I hit a solid thick piece of it and generally it will jump out of there. Also in the past with the fan bearing on the armature it is so close to fan that you have to crush it in a vise and use a bearing splitter to remove the inner race, or if you buy the parts from Dewalt you might take it with you and ask them to remove and press the new ones on. Let me know if this doesn't work and I will research further.
