Hi thanks for getting back to me model number is MSD2456GE
If you saw the defrost heater remain on continuously that can be dangerous very serious and cause a fire. For the refrigerator to become hot like this and show a glow from the defrost heater there will need to be two things happening at the same time. The 61006116 Defrost Heater Assembly with defrost thermostat will be stuck in defrost and the defrost thermostat is fused together inside not allowing the thermostat to turn off defrost once the temperature reaches 50 degrees in freezer back wall. http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/D... The second problem will be the 68233-2 Defrost Timer http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/D... JT
If the defrost thermostat is stuck with the contacts together and the defrost timer also stuck in defrost it will cause the refrigerator to allow the heating elements to come on and not turn off. this is possible but not likely but because you mention these things we need to make sure this is not happening. let me know what you find either way because I'm interested in knowing what's happening with your refrigerator. Thank you John Tripp
