Can I replace the tank drain on my Porter Cable 150PSI 6Gal pancake compressor with a ball valve?

As long as it will physically fit and the rating is above 150psi -Yes.
I say above 150psi because if the compressor pumps to 150psi, a 150psi valve is on the hairy edge of it's max limit.

The tank, compressor head, and components need be rated at what you want set the compressor unit pressure to, the safety valve will keep from exceeding the lowest of those limits. If you suspect the safety relief valve needs replacing because it has weakened, then replace the safety valve with one OEM pressure values

Do you know where I can get a wiring diagram on a whirlpool side by side refrigerator model no ED5PHEXMB00? Mainly for the compressor. Freezer is not getting cold. I vacuumed the coils in front and...

Hello Thayden,

I understand that the Refrigerator compressor is not working on your unit. There are three possibilities of why the compressor is not working, the compressor is bad, the starter is bad, or the capacitor is bad.

To check the starter you will need to do the following (most common): Refer to picture at the bottom of the post
1. Unplug the unit
2. On the side of your compressor there is a cover this is the starter relay cover.
3. Remove the cover
4. Remove the wires
5. Remove the starter (top piece stuck on two rods)
6. Check if bad (shack it if you hear a noise/knocking it is bad and will not allow compressor to start)
7. Replace it and the bottom one the over load.
8. Reinstall in reverse

The Run Capacitor (uncommon that they go bad but possible)
1. The little black or silver box that two wires run to from the starter
2. Check to see if contacts or unit is burnt.

The Compressor
1. If you replace the above items and the compressor is not running the the problem is the compressor. This will take a licensed HVAC person to replace.

The above parts are inexpensive between $30-$50 at your local appliance parts store. There is a 50/50 chance that this will work and save you the cost of replacing the compressor or the whole refrigerator.

Thank you for choosing FIxYa.com

I HAVE A 2 HORSE POWER COMPRESSOR (QUINCY) WHEN I TURN ON THE UNIT THE AIR REACHES 80 LBS AND KICKS THE PRESSURE RELEASE VALUE IN OTHER WORDS THE COMPRESSOR WANTS TO RUN ALL THE TIME AND NOT SHUT OFF...

Replace the pressure release valve, Typically they are set to protect at above 130, depending on the specs for your machine. This is a safety device, intended to not normally release...

Always look for leaks when you are working on the unit.

Compressor shuts off before reaching max pressure

Yes,but if the max is 125 you don't want to increase it above 110 and set off the pressure relief valve.

My chest freezer is warm what can be the problem?

there coud be many possiblity:
check wheather the compressor is getting current or not.
check the running amper of the compressor with a multi meter.
the reading must be 0.6 to 1.1 if it is coming above 1.1 to 4.2 than your starter have the problem. if it is showing 4.6 or above than its time to replace your compressor..................have a nice day :-)
