USB to PC is fine, make sure you have the original installation disk for it. Then you can connect the Xbox via network cable. There shouldn't be any problem as your modem can take 2 connections by the sound of it.
You will need to connect a router to the Westell in order to use more than one computer with your dsl. That modem will need to be put in bridge mode in order to allow it to work with the router.
Call ATT/Bellsouth support and tell them you need to setup your modem for bridge mode and connect your Linksys router.

i went through ur problem and solution according to me is when u will open the routers page by 192.168.1.1 and there u will a tab under general settings and there would be an option for MTU ...
change that to mannual and change it to 1365 .....
well that is the only possible step

run the modem to the router with Ethernet cable and then use one of the other Ethernet ports on the router and another Ethernet cable to connect desktop
