The program could be loaded in the Startup programs. Open msconfig in the Run command and click on Start up tab. Untick QuickPlay if there is a check beside it. Then the pc will restart. A small box will pop up once the system rebooted, just click OK.

How do i turn on my web cam on my new windows 7 compaq laptop?

You use, Quickplay, To access QuickPlay, just press the "blue QuickPlay button" next to the power button. If it doesn't load QuickPlay, just do "Start" - "All Programs" - then you will see QuickPlay listed there. If you still can't find it just do a search, you will find the short-cut.

Once launched QuickPlay, click on the 2nd icon from left (between DVD and TV icon), then double-click on "HP Pavilion WebCam" from the left side panel, then you will see the blue LED light lit and you should see yourself on the screen. (Double-click "yourself" to enlarge image)

To take a picture or record video, just press the corresponding buttons on the top. (the red circle icon is for recording video (press "Stop" icon to stop recording), the camera icon is for, well, camera)
Videos and pictures are saved at:
Pictures -- C:\Users\Public\Pictures\My Snapshots
Videos -- C:\Users\Public\Videos\HP Webcam

Just go to:

C:\Program Files\HP\QuickPlay

and see if you have QuickPlay installed or not.

If yes, then double click on "QP.exe", and that should bring up QuickPlay. And later you can make a shortcut to it.

I have a problem with my webcam sound. I recorded my assignment speech and when i try to listen to the speech, there was no sound coming out from the webcam. i tried everything and nothing worked. Can you...

Hi chinonsobeau,

First off, you to list the model number of your HP web Cam, as well as your OS, and the software you using to record your sound. I will assume that you have Quickplay which HP ususally send out with their web cams.

To access QuickPlay, just press the "blue QuickPlay button" next to the power button. If it doesn't load QuickPlay, just do "Start" - "All Programs" - then you will see QuickPlay listed there. If you still can't find it just do a search, you will find the short-cut. If you still don't find it, then HERE is a place you can download it and use it. It also has instruction on how to use it.

Or sometimes HP sends out Cheese, another camera software. You can download that HERE.

These are the instructions for QuickPlay:

I'm less familiar with Cheese, so I'll give you their website HERE to go to their support and they can guide you through their program.

Anyway, I hope this helps,

Don't forget to leave a raing,

Thanks

Mark

Quickplay won't play certain dvd's

Sounds like the laser is to weak to read dvd, lasers require more powe to read dvd's. Take a damp q-tip and clean off the laser just to be sure there arent any specs of dust or dirt interfering.

After you do this, try your dvd's again and if you still don't have any luck then the drive needs to be replaced.

Your laptop might still be under warranty if its under a year since you bought it.

Then copy file to CD and install on your laptop. if still having problems find a friend with internet and computer try theres system to down load and install. still not work send email to hp telling of your problem they will send you a new cd if you explain what been happening when you down load. good luck
