HP printers have a side guide in the paper tray. That can be adjusted to be too tight or too slack by moving the edge guide out or in. Try making it just touching the edge of the paper.

Make sure your sheets are aligned and tucked in with the paper feed rails, otherwise, it will slightly veer off one of the sides.

Also, if you haven't replaced the paper feeder rollers, do so, one must be worn out more than the other, and this also prevents the sheets from going through straight.

Hope That Helps!

SOURCE: How do i print edge to edge using the G85 Office Jet all in one?

The G85 does not support edge to edge printing, it requires a top margin of 0.08:, a bottom margin of 0.46" and side margins of 0.25".

Will it print from edge to edge on the paper?

Most will not, at least not with the drivers that the manufacturers give you.The only time I have had a printer print edge to edge is when I got my Windows Mobile 6 phone to print via bluetooth to an HP printer that came with a bluetooth dongle. I could not get that same printer to print edge to edge when printing from a computer, no matter what I did.
Here is some more advice regarding HP printers (since you didn't specify which printer make or model, and HP is the most popular):

Can't get printer to print on envelopes

Make sure to follow these steps: 1. load the appropriate type of paper into the All-In-One. Place the paper against the right side of the paper support with the print side facing you. Make sure you select the paper size for your document. 2. Squeeze and slide the paper guide to the left edge of the paper. 3. Make sure the All-In-One is turned on. 4. Click File -> Print. 5. From Print dialog box, click Properties, Preferences, Options, or Setup (depending on the program). 6. From the Paper Setup tab, select the paper type, paper size, and orientation. 7. Once you have applied all the settings you want in Print Properties, click OK at the bottom of the screen to return to the Print dialog box. 8. Click Print to complete your task.

Whenever I try to print something I keep getting

It's a possible hardware issue in the feeding mechanism. Try to remove the cartridges from the printer then close the cover. Remove the sheets of paper. Unplug the printer from the power source. Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging back the printer to the power source. When the printer's ready, reload the cartridges. Load some paper but don't overload as this may send wrong information to the printer. Have the paper guides lightly touch the sides of the paper, thus avoiding shifting of paper when it feeds. Let it print an alignment page and do some test prints from computer. If problem persists, I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support to further investigate the problem. Thanks.

Paper not feeding properly

Follow these steps to reload paper:

  1. Remove the paper and make sure it's not curled or wrinkled.

  2. Fan the stack to make sure the sheets are separated.

  3. Open the paper support and pull up the extension.

  4. Extend the output tray.

  5. Flip the feeder guard forward. Squeeze the edge guide and slide it left.

    pm_paperload_218_er.gif

  6. Insert paper, printable side up and short edge first, against the right side and beneath the tab.

    pm_paperload_219_er.gif

You can load up to 100 sheets of 20 lb plain paper or up to 20 sheets of photo paper.

  7. Slide the edge guide to the edge of the paper, but not too tightly.

    pm_paperload_220_er.gif

Follow these guidelines when loading paper:

    • Do not load paper above the arrow on the edge guide.

    • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

    • If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

    • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin.

    • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

    • Load the printable side face-up. It's often brighter or whiter than the other side.

    • Load letterhead or preprinted paper top edge first.

    • If you experience paper feeding problems, try loading fewer sheets.

    • If you're using special paper, check the package for special loading instructions.
Follow these steps to reload paper in the Automatic Document Feeder:

  1. Remove the paper and make sure it's not curled or wrinkled.

  2. Tap the originals on a flat surface to even the edges.

  3. Move the edge guides outward.

    pm_paperload_223_er.gif

  4. Insert the originals face-up. You can load up to 30 letter-size sheets at a time. If you load legal-size sheets, insert only 10 sheets at a time. Make sure the originals are not creased or folded and do not have tape, staples, or other materials that could obstruct the feeder.

    pm_paperload_224_er.gif

  5. Slide the edge guides against the originals.

Epson stylus sx515w paper will not feed properly

pls make sure that you loaded the paper correctly.
Open the paper support and pull up the extensions. Open the output tray and pull out the extensions. Then flip up the paper stopper on the last extension, unless you’re printing on legal-size paper. . Flip the feeder guard up, out of the way, then squeeze the edge guide and slide it left. Insert paper, printable side up, against the right side and beneath the tab. Load paper short edge first, no matter which way your document faces.
Load letterhead or pre-printed paper top edge first.
Do not load paper with holes punched in it.
Do not load transparencies.
Do not load paper above the paper.4.3.4.jpg arrow on the edge guide.
Check the paper package for any additional loading instructions. 5. Slide the edge guide to the edge of the paper, but not too tightly. if you put the paper correctly and still not feeding the paper correctly, that means the rollers of the printer is broken

Epson Stylus 580rx won't identify vellum paper

Ran into the same problem. The problem is that the printer's paper sensor sees through the vellum and therefore doesn't think any paper moved into the print position. To use vellum, fold up 1/4" edge on a standard peice of print paper and place the leading edge of the vellum under the flap. Place the paper and vellum into the printer and print. The printer will pull in the paper and the vellum together. Make the paper fold tight and straight to prevent jamming. You will need to feed one sheet at a time. Also the Epson inks take a long time to dry on vellum. I let mine dry overnight.
