Westinghouse 808 cooktop clicking noises

I have a Westinghouse PAJ 808 freestanding electric cooker with ceramic cooktop that intermittently gives off clicking noises, usually for about 4 to 10 seconds each time, sometimes longer. The electronic clock display blinks rapidly when this happens. What's causing it and how to fix?

Sometimes after a power failure the p c board needs re setting. Turn off the power for a few minutes that allows it time to re set. Turn it back on then individually turn on each element for a couple of minutes.

SOURCE: Remove ceramic cooktop

grouch, kill the power to the cooktop. You are going to have to remove the mounting brackets from undernieth and push the cooktop up. After it's up from it's installation position remove the side and back screws holding the top to the botom. Remove the burner knobs and it should come apart. Sounds like you have a bad burner switch. SOURCE: Clicking noise on cooktop even when all burners ignite

I have a viking gas cooktop. The ignitor on one of my front burners wouldn't stop clicking even after the flame ignited. I swapped that ignitor with the ignitor from a back burner, expecting that the problem was with the ignitor and that the back burner would start to click incessantly, but at least I'd have my favorite front burner for use. Instead, the front burner was then only clicking 50% of the time and the back burner was fine, suggesting the problem was related to the burner not the ignitor. I pulled the front ignitor a bit away from the burner and now it is working normally. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: cooktop's electronic igniter started clicking all by itself

Check to make sure your burner caps are aligned. I had this problem, and it turned out one of my burner caps was slightly askew. Putting it level fixed the problem.

ENr is on rating plate on bottom of hob. The Ceramic top is easy to replace, it is held on by 3 pozi screws on each side (12 altogether) and just sits on the main electrical parts, obviously the unit should be isolated from main before you remove the top. Part can be ordered using the link
