I bought a small torch just before dismantling my art studio to remodel. That was only supposed to be a 2-3 month project, but it took a whole year. I fear I do not remember how to safely turn on and off the tanks, and switch out empty tanks. We're talking propane. This can explode. The torch and regulators did NOT come with a manual. I am surprised, given the hazards. I'd like a manual to refer to regularly.

Propane blue flame heater. Why does it flare/pop when the flame shuts off.Lights well ,flame is nice and blue but when the thermostat shuts it off it pops.?

Its just a small explosion from the mixture of propane and the oxygen rite at the time it gets to the percentage of O2-ph. Its safe. An oxy/acetlene set up does the same thing when the mix is to high in O2.

How to detect a vacuum leak

The easiest way is to use an accelerant and spray the suspected lines while the engine is running. Your engine will rev up when the leak is hit by the spray. You can use ether, commonly found as a starting aid for diesel engines,a lot of garages use the oxy/acetalyne torch, you could use a propane torch.

If your flame goes out check the following:a) check your acetylene and oxygen pressure, for this kind of job acetylene should be at 4 psi and oxygen at 10.b) Check you're using the right type of nozzle for the job and this nozzle is clean.

My bleeders are rusted on my car how do i bleed them

Brush the bleeders with DOT 3 Brake fluid and let soak in for 24 hours, or so.
The Brake fluid should free up the rust.

Also, could try to heat it up a little with a propane or Mapp gas torch, or Oxy Acetylene (ideally), to free up the bleeder screw.

Replace if necessary.

When cutting 40mm mild steel with oxy/propane is it recommended to heat the plate before hand, and would a 1/16 nozzle be sufficient?

No heating the plate before cutting is never recommended and a 1/16 nozzle is small for cutting thicker steel, My recomendation is to get the next to largest tip for your torch and use that for most of your cutting needs as for thinner material you just keep the settings turned down and for thicker you have the capabilities to increase you gasses to addiquitly cut the thicker material. Hope This Helps Don
