Maybe the connectors don't work; just try to put in the grip again.

flat head screwdriver and some pliers. Use the flat head screwdriver to get inbetween the join between the top of the mic (the silver grill thing) and the bottem (the black hand grip), you man need to yous the pllyers to pull it apart further. Inside there shoud be the mic bit (little cylinder at the top), then a weight for it, both you should beable to pull it without to much diffuclet.

To play Rock Band without vocals?

Seriously you guys are hilarious, nobody's even given this guy a true and or correct answer. I too have had this problem and it's INFURIATING. Just trying to play the damn game: No you don't have to download anything

Solution:

Enter Game mode/ Training mode whatever mode USING THAT INSTRUMENT. I repeat DO not use the controller (the xbox360 controller) unless you want to use the microphone. It makes sense the microphone has no control hence by default if your'e using the controller the game THINKS you want to play with the microphone.

Lights flashing on guitar and usb

If you are using the Fender Stratocaster Rock Band Guitar:

1) Ensure you have fresh batteries in the Wireless Guitar
2) Insert receiver into USB hub
3) Turn on Guitar via switch on back.
4) If both the guitar and the USB receiver is flashing blue, then press the guitar logo button until flashing blue light on the receiver stops flashing.

Note that on Rock Band 1, non-Rock Band guitars (ie: Guitar Hero and Wiimote based guitars) generally don't work.

Good luck!

Don't use the controller to navigate, that's the vocalist's controls. Go in and out of menus with the instrument you intend on using, don't use the controller.

Syncing with Rock Band.

From Harmonix spokesperson: "Support for the GHIII guitar peripherals in Rock Band on the Wii was not possible without Activision's permission. Therefore, any questions regarding lack of compatibility with GH III hardware should be directed to Activision."
