Question about General Electric PHP900DMBB GE Profile 30" Electric Induction Cooktop - Black

1 Answer

How far away do I need to sit my GE induction cook top back from the front of the cabinet?

I am installing my GE induction cooktop and need to know how far away from the front of the cabinet it needs to be installed from. I know it has to be 2.5" from the edge of the countertop, but it doesn't say from the inside of the cabinet. Can it be right up next to the inside of the cabinet or does it need to sit back some distance?

Try to centre it so you have an equal distance both front and back that way il has clearance and also looks better than being out of kilter.

My electrolux iduction cook top sends error across the whole bord when I put anythng on the inductoin burner

You may try and reset the induction cook top by disconnecting the power to the unit for up to 30 seconds. This will clear most false error codes. You can disconnect power by flipping the circuit breaker off and back on. If the error code does not clear, then the unit more than likely can be experiencing an issue with the EOC and user interface board. This is not a typical do it yourself job; please consult a professional or your manufacturer.

How to un lock my GE Profile Induction cook top?

Try turning off the breaker for at least 10 min and re apply power. If this doesn't work, then there's an internal problem.
If after 10 minutes the cooktop is STILL locked:

Push the touch pad that looks like a padlock for at least 5 seconds. The lock light should go out.

Kitchen aid KECC507GBL3 electric 36in cooktop. Burner switch is out - cannot get glass top off. Have removed all screws from plate mountings on the sides. Is there a trick to this?

Hi,

If it’s a range, there is usually a couple of screws that hold the front of the top down, remove the screws, lift the front of the top and pull it out from the back hinges. Install the new top, make sure there are no loose wiring.
If it’s a cook top then make sure that the power to the cook top has been turned off, open the cabinet and look up. There should be a couple of brackets that secure the cook top. Remove the brackets, carefully lift the top and set it on the counter top (put a towel on the counter top first). replace the glass top (make sure there is no loose or exposed wiring), set the cook top back in the counter, secure it with brackets as was before, and double check your work.

One igniter won't work right on my gas cooktop.

If you're not getting the ignitor sparking (you should hear it) when you turn the burner knob on for that burner, it could be that either the ignitor is dirty or caked with some gunk and needs to be cleaned.

The other issue could be that the ignitor is faulty and needs to be replaced. If you want to confirm a faulty ignitor before ordering a new one, you can swap it out with one of the other ignitors on the cook top. Be sure to unplug the cook top from the outlet thou, to prevent getting a shock, as those little sparkers can give you a pretty good jolt!

Just remove the grates and burners to get at the ignitor for cleaning it. To get at the ignitor, youll need to go under the cabinet or counter that the cooktop is installed on in order to remove the ignitor and swap it with one of the other ones. You'll see that these are held in place with a retaining clip you can remove with a flat bladed screwdriver, etc.

If you find that the one that isn't working is faulty, you can order one from your local appliance service store, or get one online. www.searspartsdirect.com lists parts for almost every appliance there is, just enter in the full model number to get a parts list, etc.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
