Take the make, model number, and serial number to an appliance parts dealer, Explain to them, where and what this switch is doing. They should be able to provide you with a solution or part. A white switch, located behind a box? It would be inside a cover, attached to the compressor. That would be a relay. If you decide to remove it, unplug the box. Remember where the wires go. Take it with you. Good luck.

Hi!
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
It does a lot of clicking (trying to start over and over again)
If thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay
I use part no ERP410 POWER START RELAY, CAPACITOR AND OVERLOAD all in one. (110 v)

Where is damper door in a kenmore refrigerator model #9510681 side by side

If you can't see the damper door, it is most probably shut, possibly frozen or not working. Top of middle section, allows airflow from freezer to fridge part. Switch thermostat off, wait 20 mins, switch back on. If damper doesn't open, check stat and damper motor.

The freezer is running and cold, the refrigerator seems to be getting warmer like as if the cold isn't transferring. Is there a fan suppose to be running or what?

It is quite common for a refrigerator to begin the first signs of a defrost problems once he fresh Food section begins to warm. Auto Dampers are an additional component to check while searching for the true reason for Fresh Food compartment warming. First look inside the freezer compartment and and see if there is a layer of frost building on the rear wall. If yes you will need to manually defrost unless you have anothr place to store the freezer goods. Unplug refrigerator and then remove the rear panel of freezer to get a good look at the snow covering your evaporator coils. Defrost with a hair drier. Now we need to look for the cause Auto Damper, Click here for the photo location of these parts=> MSD2756GEW Controls Section the adaptive defrost control is most likely the problem and is listed in the photo as location 13 and the auto damper

61005971 Damper Control Assembly

61005988 Adaptive Defrost Assembly
sea_breeze_232.jpg sea_breeze_233.jpg

The Auto Damper model refrigerator has two controls and both have capillary sensing.

The Auto Damper controls the fresh food temperature and the Freezer Temperature
Control guides the freezer temperature. The fresh food compartment temperature is maintained by a damper assembly located at the back of the temperature control housing. Changes in air temperature cause the damper door to open and close. A control rod and gear connect the fresh
food control knob to the damper control.

Turning the fresh food control knob to the coldest position increases the flow of freezer air into the fresh food section. The freezer compartment temperature control warms at a faster rate and cools at a slower rate, increasing the compressor run time necessary to maintain a satisfied freezer temperature control.

There is always other possiilities but I see two other things that may cause this and that is the defrost heater with defrost Thermostat=> 61006199 Defrost Heater Assembly

I know this was long and possibly confusing but please ask if you should have questions or one on one assistance, Thanks, Sea Breeze

The refrigerator seems to be losing its cooling, while the freezer remains freezing.

Hello, One of the first things that you would check would be the evaporator fan motor inside the freezer. If you open the freezer door and can hear the fan working and pushing air then you can surmize that the fan is not the issue at hand. If the fan were not working then you would have to remove the rear panel on the rear wall of the freezer which would give you access to the evaporator coil as well as the evaporator fan. If you do not hear the fan and take the rear panel off and find an ice build up on the evaporator coil this would be termed a defrost issue and if you do find ice then message me back and I shall instruct which parts to test and how to test them. Now moving on that you have assured the fan is working. You would next look at the diffuser door located on the inside of the refrigerator towards the rear on the middle partition. The door is also called a damper door and if you click this link http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/M0312532-00002.png it is noted as part number 11 in the diagram you also have a tempreture control noted as part number 3 and an adaptive defrost at part number 13. You would remove the damper door and assure that it was able to function as to open and closeing and that there was no frost build up on the door itself if there was it is best to replace the damper door. If the damper door were functioning properly you would next look at the tempreture control which if you can hear the control make the click sound from the on to the off position it would usually suggest that the control is working properly. If you have any further questions message me back. If you do have the air flowing in the freezer area I would then look at the damper door area as to your problem area in your machine. Thanks Rick

It sounds like the damper assembly might have failed or be stuck open. The damper is mounted in the left side upper rear corner of the refrigerator section. The damper controls the amount of cold air that comes into the refrigerator section from the freezer.

If you want to repair the refrigerator yourself you should disconnect the power to the refrigerator and remove the 2 screws holding the damper cover to the center wall. Sometimes you can spray the damper with WD40 and free it up.

What you didnt state was whether you had cold air blowing when the damper opened up. If you did, then the problem will be with the damper assembly itself, or the control board, which is what you would adjust to change temperatures. This microswitch you mentioned, was this on the control board? then the control board is the problem. If you did something with the damper assembly, then that might be the problem.
If you dont have any cold air blowing when you opened the damper door, then airflow is your issue, and you will have to include more symptoms for a refrigerator repair diagnosis.

The air that cools the refrigerator section comes from the freezer. The refrigerator temperature control controls the run cycle. You may have to replace or have the thermostat replaced. The temperature control has failed.
