Motor burned up?

What is the specific issue you are having with the mixer that makes you feel that the motor is burnt up? There is a variety of issues we see with KitchenAid mixers, however the motor being burnt up is actually rare. If you could get me the model of the mixer (that is under the base of the mixer on a label), then I can tell you what to look for in the mixer.

The most common issues in a KitchenAid mixer, depending on the model include: gears, brushes, and electrical components.
The grease is always black, it is actually a dark brown color but looks black, over time it can break down since it is vegetable based and can leak out of the mixer.

However I find that in 90% of the cases the repairs are fairly easy and worth the repair.

If you can get more information, or if you have questions, call our customer service team and they would be happy to help.

Mixer will run but keeps hesitating and makes a clacking noise

A model number would help but it sounds like you may have blown the fuse gear. I won't ramble on about how to do it (it's a big job for an ordinary person) until you come up with a model number.

What is the best way to identify what model Kichenaid I mixer I have?

If you cannot read the model from the band then look for the sticker. Most often it is underneath the base of the stand.

My beater, dough hook, and wire whip all hit the bottom of the mixing bowl. I have been told that I can adjust them. Can you tell me how? Thank you

On the tilt head models there is a "Stop screw" that adjusts how far down the head goes. I just can't remember if it's in the head or base. I use the other model that lifts the bowl.

How can i tell the which size my mixer is?

A 200 means 20 quart. I assume you have no bowl or else you can just measure the volume of the bowl.

Makes a thunking noise with every rotation. sounds like a gear is messed up somehow. The beater hesitates as it goes through its rotation.

It probably is .. The most common cause is something got stuck in the beaters and some gear teeth got damaged.. They are very easy to replace but can be a little messy because of the grease on the gears. If you tell me your make and model I will tell you what parts you probably need
