I would to replace the water pump on a 1988 6.2 chevy suburban ?
Hi Friend: I think your asking how to replace your water Pump. OK 1st Thing you'll need to do is Drain your Coolant/Water From Your Engine. With A Drain Pan Under Front of Vehicle Below your Lower Radiator Hose. Take the Hose Clamp Loose enough to Remove the Lower Radiator Hose from Your Water Pump.Your Coolant Will Come Out. 2nd Step Remove Your Drive Belt You can Remove this Belt by taking a 1/2 Inch Drive Socket and Correct Socket Size and Put it on The Center Bolt of your Belt Tensioner and Pull the Tensioner to Release the Pressure on Your Belt,While Holding it at that Poition Reach over to your Belt and Take it Off Say Your Alternator or A/C Compressor, Once you have removed it from Thee Release the Tensioner and Now you Can Work the Belt Out And Away From Your Pulleys that it Ran On. 3rd Now You'll need to Remove your Cooling Fan thee should be 4- Bolts and Nuts You'll Have takje all 4 out Then remove your Fan from Engine Compartment. 4th Your Going to Be able to See your Water Pump now You'll Also see that a Bracket or 2 From Your Power Steering and A/C Compressor are Bolted in Front of your Water Pump, So Remove any Brackets Or Components away from your Water Pump. Now that you have Remove anything in the way of your Water Pump including your upper Radiator Hose. You will Be Able to Take your Water Pump Bolts Out.Remeber where your bolts came out ,Some will be a Little Longer or Shorter.and will need to be put back in the same position. Ok Now All Bolts Are Out Of water pump Assembly, It might come right off ,if not just tap it with a Rubber or Plastic Hammer or take a Flat Screw Driver and Pry It off and away from Your engine. Clean the Surface on your engine of any gasket material or anything else.Completely Cleaned. Your New Water Pump will come with new Gaskets ,put some Gasket Sealer on the Water Pump and Put the Ne Gaskets on correctly by Lining up your Bolts Holes.Let It Set awhile,So Gaskets don't Slip when Mounting it to your Engine,Right Before you go to put the Water Pump on,Put a Little gasket sealer on the Gasket Area, Then Lining up your Holes Start Putting Your Bolts Back In All Bolts Should be Torqued at 40 Foot Lbs.Now to Finish installing the Rest of your Parts. Simply Reverse the Removal of The Water Pump. Hope i have helped you Please Let me Know on How my Solution Has Helped. Thank You: From =d_hubbs
