Just plug in the monitor with no video signal. It should display something like No Signal. If it does, then the monitor is ok and you have a video card or OS problem

Hi Kuhlie, I agree with 955_mike. We need more information. We first need to rule out the monitor. If it is operational, we can go from there. Like many problems solved, you have to "weed out" things from the simplest form to the more complex.

Is there any light on the monitor or the monitor surround?
Do you get any kind of a message on the monitor?
If you have an onboard graphics card as well as a third party graphics card, then move the monitor lead to the onboard connector.
If you have recently changed the graphics card or monitor, you may be using a resolution that the monitor cannot handle. Try a different monitor, or try your monitor in another pc to confirm that it works.

I placed my Camera's card placed In Computer and all the colors went wild, removed Card, now everthing on my screen shows mixed colorsrd

I had something similar happen to ma about a year ago, I moved my tower a couple inches to reach for something that fell and then my screen was "colorful". Turned out that I just knocked my monitors cable out just enough that it was not working properly. I would first check to see if either end of the monitor cable has come loose from the computer tower or the monitor itself.
I have also had the colors go wild when I had a faulty video graphics card, but I would start with the cable first to make sure it is secure.

Aspire AX1200-U1510A starts but monitor doesn't show anything. Monitor works with an odl Dell.

If an old Dell monitor works with your computer then that monitor has something wrong with it.

Try to plug in the monitor to a wall outlet but do not plug it to your computer. If it still doesn't show anything, then you should replace it. You can contact the manufacturer of the monitor. You might have a warranty for it. They might fix it or replace it with a new one.

I hope this helps.

My computer's tower turns on but it doesn't display on the monitor, the monitor shows the normal Self test box so the monitor doesn't seem to be the problem. Also when I press the power off...

Make sure that the cable is connected from your computer to the monitor, and if it is wiggle it and push it in all the way. If it has screws, screw them in. If that does not work, check that your monitor is on the correct input (if it has multiple) then see if anything comes on the monitor. If nothing happens you should buy a new cable from the store. If all of those steps do not work your computer or your monitor might have a more serious problem.

No visual in my monitor

Hi
usually for these kind of issues., here are some common steps that helps at times.
1. Check the VGA Cable that connects the Monitor to the Tower (CPU).
2. Reseat the Cable once.
3. Remove the VGA Cable & turn on the Monitor Alone. See if you get any display saying "No Signal" or anything similar. If there is some display, then it means that the problem is with the Tower (CPU) & not with the monitor.

Hope this small sugession helps.
Cheers!!! Have a nice day!!!

My Dell dimension 2400 monitor doesn't work when connected to my tower. It appears that it's off when I connect it to the Dell Dimension 2400 tower, but when I connect the same monitor to another computer,...

Hi! For dell machines when u unplug the video cable/VGA from the tower while the system is on it will show monitor self test.If you are seeing a black box moving around the screen it means that monitor is ok.Check connection between monitor and tower.Make sure cables are securely plugged in.Check if the tower is ok. There is a possibility that your monitor is ok but the tower is not.check the power button (whats the color) if amber/orange, this means there is something wrong the the tower. If its blue or white it means its ok.Also check if you are going to hear one beep, it means system is booting up properly. If tower is ok and you are using a expansion video card then try to use internal one, normally its the vga port above the usbs.If you are going to use onboard video card make sure you enable it first in bios.If all things fail, contact your manufacturer, if the system is under warranty then they will send a tech to check the machine.hope this helps...

Dell XPS 400 tower does not power up monitor?

The “self test” on the monitor displays when not plugged into a computer. This means that it’s working. The LED error code 2 and 4 means the video subsystem has a problem. Either your video card is bad or bad memory module. Try reseating video card and/or memory.

Desktop monitor

Hi

Disconnect the monitor from the tower and then turn on the monitor.
If u get a msg like no input signal or check video cable then the monitor is fine. If this is the case, it could be a problem with the tower or the cable.
