Mow for 30-60 min.mower shuts down. Sometimes you can mow all day.start goin up hills mower will shut down, about the second or 3rd trip.what's the problem?

Don't know what kind if engine you have but many have low oil shut down float switches inside the engine..when operating on hills or side if hills too long the oil will flow to the low side and the low oil switch will pick it up as low oil and shut it down..look for a small wire attached to the crankcase it most likely is that low oil switch..the next time this happens try disconnecting it and tape the end if the wire..try starting and run on the hill..it should not shut Down..just remember it is a safety switch to protect the engine from damage from low oil operation.try running the hills where the oil runs to the wire side of the engine..won't trick the low oil alert...Good luck..

If oil is low will it affect starting? is there a kill switch

Honda engines originally fitted the low oil level kill switch which some other manufacturers have copied so yes a low oil level could affect starting but only if your mower engine is fitted with a low oil level kill switch. Not all engines have the switch and in an ideal world the facility would not be needed...

Engine oil low is on and engine won't start

Some engines come with a low oil kill sending unit which will not let the engine start when it's low of oil and will kill the engine if it runs low of oil while running.

Vespa 250 oil light stays on not starting

The oil sensor may be bad, or the oil level may be too low. If the motor reads a low oil signal or no signal it will not start to protect itself.

Oil light on when I start, I shut off and light stays off

The oil light is supposed to come on when there is low oil pressure, so when the car starts, the pressure goes from 0 to whatever (25-60psi depending on the engine). As a result, the light stays on for a few seconds at the beginning of the start cycle and is then supposed to go out. If the low oil pressure light remains on, then you either have low oil pressure or you have a sensor problem. If you have low oil pressure, you may need a new oil filter. If the filter was just replaced, then you need to get professional help because low oil pressure will wreck your engine in a hurry. Your engine's oil pump may be faulty and need to be replaced.

If oil is very low will that stop my car from starting

Low oil will not keep the engine from starting, but low oil pressure can keep it from running.
You should not try to start the engine if it is more than a quart low.

2000 Mitsubishi eclipse the oil light came on and my car shut down. I added 1 quart of oil and it was full but the car still won't start.

The oil light does not indicate the car is low on oil (based on your discription) it indicates the oil pressure is low, the no start is most likely due to this low pressure and the fuel pump has been cut off to prevent damage to the engine from low oil pressure. Please have a shop locate the cause of the low oil pressure warning and repair it as needed. It could be a false light or a real one, which means if you drove it very far you may have damaged the engines bearings.

Car low on oil and motor wont start. It cranks over but wont start. No oil lights have come on on dash board so had no idea it was low on oil;

Some cars, not sure about yours had a switch on the fuel pump, if the oil was low, they wouldn't start. Get the oil back up the re and see what happens. The oil sending switch must be for pressure and not level, it will register 60 lbs pressure with only 1 qt of oil in there, try it, hope it helps.

Low oil pressure

If low oil pressure is verifiable the only repair is replacement of the oil pump assembly.

Start by verifying oil pressure with a mechanical oil pressure gauge. If oil pressure is low then replace oil pump.
