Are you talking about TVM calculations? If so, you need to change your payments per year setting (P/Y) from 1 to 12. That should fix it. Hit 2nd, (I/Y), 12 and then ENTER.

SOURCE: how to clear the memory key on Texas instrument

Hello,
Your calculator has 3 memories (M1, M2,M3)
To store the number 170 in M1 use 170[STO]1
To recall a number from M1 use [RCL]1
To add a number to the content of M1 [2nd][SUM]1 (adds displayed value to contents of M1).
[2nd][EXC] 2 exchanges the value already displayed with the contents of M2:

To erase (clear) a memory register, just store 0 in it.

Hope it helps.

My Texas Instrument TI 83 Plus will not turn on?

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible. If this doesn't do it, please reply to this post and we'll go on from there.

I have an older texas instrument Ti-81 that is in good condition. I have replaced the batteries, but the calculator will not turn on. What can I do?

Having gone over a month without a response to my query, I assume the suggested screen adjustment solved the problem.
