Citroen C8 2.0 HDI external temperature always wrong!

It\'s a small probe inside the passenger mirror. Look underneath for a little lump, looks like a water droplet. My C8 reads 58 degrees! Probably a similar fault. Removing the mirror is not bad, tilt to extreme to reveal metal spring clip inside. Putting back is a real pain.

Do you need to replace the thermostat housing if only the sensor is bad and telling the conputor to turn on the service engine light?

How do you know the sensor is bad? Have you checked the coolant temperature using an external temperature gauge?
Best bet is to replace both the thermostat/housing and the temperature sensor, they are not that expensive, and are located in the same area of the engine.

I just replaced the bake element and now it is overheating and trips the internal settings and turns off (termostat?)

Yes , it sounds as if your temperature sensor is stuck as well, allowing the oven to overheat. Repacement is quite easy, the attaced link is useful. www.fixitnow.com/2003/03/appliance-tip-of-the-day-oven-temperature.htm
