When I turn on my TV the blue light on the switch glows. After a few seconds you can here something make a slight whir and then it starts a loud screech. The switch button then starts to blink and goes off, after a few seconds more the whole routine starts again. Is this a color wheel problem and if so how difficult is it to get to the color wheel?
It sounds like it is the Color Wheel. I do not think you can get the Color Wheel separate from the Optical Engine like you can with Samsung. RCA is very tight with there parts like that. Because you have to get the whole
Engine Assy, cost would be too much in my opinion to invest into it. The part cost approx 800.00 the last time I checked on one.

Once you get the back off, The Engine Assy. is removable from the rear. It is not overly difficult, just a little time consuming. DO NOT turn any of the adjustment screws. The Engine is attached to a bracket and that bracket w/enigine is removed. Once that is done access to the Engine Block is clear and free.

I have been told that the part can be purchased separately and I also asked how easy it is to replace. The part does show availability at the partstore.com. I also asked: Do I need to take the screen off and how difficult is that?
