Question about Philips Magnavox 27MS343S 27" TV

1 Answer

Changes channels automatically and volume increases

We got this TV because a friend wanted a bigger/newer model a few years ago. It has worked GREAT until this afternoon when it changes channel AND increases the volume to maximum with no prompting. Also intermittantly we hear a LOUD plastic POP/cracking sound. Is this the death of the set?

My remote wont work called about 3 weeks ago for replacementno response... and my tv is changing channels on its own,

You have to get nasty with the manufacturer at times to get what you want. No reason a remote can't be replaced in a few days; however, the problem seems to be the TV itself. If the remote is not active, and you experience channel changes automatically, it may be the TV receiver section alone. Call the company and mention that without the remote energized you have channel changes, they can run you through diagnostics to find the problem.

I have Onida TV Model 21 inch , I accidentally enable the features of volume lock, hotel mode and channel lock and I cannot reset the same. Due to this, I cannot increase volume of telivision

MIGHT WORK IF YOU:
Turn off tv with remote, that is standby, then turn off tv with switch or unplug from wall. Wait a few minutes until led lights go off on tv. plug tv back in. try pushing vt on remote and power button on tv at same time.
If this doesn't work try contacting a local retailer, they always have a list of codes for their salesmen.

The buttons on top of mt tv go crazy the flip channels automatically and turn volume up and down automatically

I have had this problem on this same model (F32650) and I discovered that what is happening is that dust and debris are causing the microswitches in the panel to short, therefore the channel starts changing and wont stop or the volume changes etc...
Get some electronic switch cleaner and (with the power off of course!) spray into the crevaces around each button and press each button a few times and then power the unit back on and it should be fine.

Tv channel will not change and volume keeps increasing without to

Most likely you have a defecvtive volume up switch. Unsolder it from the board, and see if problem goes away. Very common problem. Since only one function can work at a time, none of the others will work until you "release" that switch
