SOURCE: WHEN I RECORD A DVD.
Sometimes DVD players cannot read a DVD+R disc, only DVD-R can be played. (or vice versa) For example my old XBOX cannot play DVD+R, but it will read a DVD-R just fine.
So if you have finalized your disc and it still won't play on a certian player, try the other type of disc. (DVD+R or DVD-R)

from page 36 of the manual....on the remote control press SETUP use the arrow key to select "DISC EDIT" press OK Use the arrow key to select FINALIZE press OK. A confirmation window appears, use the arrow to select YES and press OK. If you still cannot view on a different DVD player, you may want to check to make sure that your disc's are compatible with the new player.

Make sure you have the right DVD disc and the disc is clean if you do... (2) make sure you connected it right and are fully seated. LINE IN on your DVD-R is for the recorder part LINE OUT on the tv is to send it to the DVD-R If you done that try another RCA cable or two That should fix it
