Go to the Toshiba support page for your region and look up the BDX1100. (In the US, the unit would be the BDX1100KU http://support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=3192787 .) This firmware will work on the BDXK100. Download the firmware for this model at your computer. Extract the files and copy them to an appropriate media (SD card or DVD+/-R and then finalize the disc) that the BDXK100 will read. Turn on the player and then insert the media. Press the Setup button on your remote and go down to System and then use the right arrow button to select Upgrade and set the source of the upgrade. Press Enter and then wait for the upgrade to finish. (Make sure your system doesn't lose power during the operation.) Then remove the media after you see the "Upgrade has successfully completed." message.
either a mechanism problem---disc not turning etc or an electronic issue --someone would have to open the unit and insert a disc to see what is happening----also unlikely but possible the optical pickup that reads the discs is dirty or near failure---this will usually show up first on blu ray before a regular DVD.
Unfortunately, with the current software onboard the k100d isn't compatible with a sdhc card. It looks like it's max capacity is 2gig. There's some hope that there may be a firmware upgrade for the camera later, but for now it's limited to 2g cards.
