Right click on the desktop and click on resolution. Adjust the resolution. On laptops it should be a 16:9 ratio.

How do I correct aspect ratio?

Aspect ratio often is determined by program content, i.e., the picture you provided is in 4:3 ratio but a "widescreen" program will display in 16:9 ratio. Selection occurs automatically.

How can I get rid of the nasty wide horizontal line on the screen of our TV manufactured 2008...? Will It be expensive to repair...?

If by "nasty wide horizontal lines" you mean LETTERBOX masks (at the top and bottom of the screen), all you need to do is select the correct ASPECT RATIO for the program you are watching. Consult your USER MANUAL to determine the menu settings for ASPECT RATIO.
If you do not understand what "aspect ratio" means, or what different aspect ratios exist, do an Internet search for "aspect ratio" and read.

When watching sports with the score in the right or left corner it is always cut off

the aspect ratio is wrong. there is a button on the remote that says aspect or size or ratio. keep pushing it till the screen is correct size. also there is the same function on most cable and satillite recievers. most of the time the # button changes the aspect ratio. your problem is one of these.

Ok, so I need help. My mother just bought a flatscreen tv from best buy and had it delivered today by the Geek Squad. However, the picture makes the people look fat and the sound is tin-like. She can't...

The people look fat and stubby is due to trying to display pictures that were made for old TV 4:3 aspect ratio and you are now trying to fill in the TV screen that has 16:9 aspect ratio. The only way for you to see proper pictures is to set the aspect ratio to 4:3 mode or set it to automatic to let the TV select correct aspect ratio of the pictures, the bad part is that you will see black bars on the left and on the right of the pictures, see more details with regarding to the aspect ratio in the user manual.

I have a 55cm TFT LLED-22FHD TV. The aspect ratio is 16:9. This is too wide and the images appear fat. How do I correct this.

Go to the picture menu and select a different aspect ratio. Auto sizing is useful as the TV will detect the picture size and select the correct aspect ratio, except for letterbox and super wide screen of course as your screen is not the right shape for those.
Hope this helps.

How can I get full screen image without distortion on tv viewing? I only get 4:3, zoom, full and justified. Full looks stretched horizontally with tv, looks ok with dvd.

Hello
Most of the telivision transmissions are comes at an aspect ratio of 4:3. Wide aspect ratio is 16:9. If you try to see a picture with aspect ratio 4:3 to wide 16:9, it will look like stretched. it is not the fault of the tv. Most DVD recording have the aspect ratio of 16:9 [Wide]. This aspect ratio will be displayed correctly when your tv is also set to wide mode. If you select normal mode at this condition, the picture will be displayed elongated. Ok Your Tv has no probelm.

Occasionaly a wide screen dvd plays only in full screen

The aspect ratio on your DVD player is not set correctly. Look for a SETUP button on the remote control, there should be something like "QUICK SETUP" or something similar on the setup menu, if not then go to the menu that has the aspect ratio settings listed. Change your aspect ratio to 16:9 WIDESCREEN, and this should solve your problem. Your aspect ratio is 4:3 which is for a regular TV, if the images (especially people) look real skinny and tall on your TV then your aspect ratio is not properly set. Good luck to you!

Video files are not displaying right aspect ratio when copied in Windows dvd maker.

If you go into the dvd options dialogue, you find there a DVD aspect ratio option. This option lets you determine if a slide show on the DVD is displayed at 16:9 (widescreen) or 4:3 (standard) aspect ratio.
Alternatively: go into your settings and set 4:3 Pan & Scan or from 4:3 PS to 4:3 LB whichever your aim is or well whichever aspect of a movie you want to see.

If this helped please rate :)
