Question about Compaq (249666-001) CD-RW/DVD-ROM (Combo) Burner

Media player cannot detect burner anymore

When trying to burn a cd it says connect a burner and restart the player... it also will not play a cd so it is like it got deleted or something..just gone.

Check the Manufacturer's website for a Download of the CD Drive Drivers. If you have a Software recovery application on your computer (Many HP and Dell Computers have this) the drivers may already be on your system, you may just need to re-install them. If re-installing the driver's doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you, unless your drive has gone bad.

maybe it need a cleaning, use a cd lens cleaner try to clean first the drive, then play an audio cd, if you can play now try to burn again.

Put the CD from yesterday into the CD-burner, and open the CD with Windows Media Player. Does it open?

oh my frd...it happens bcoz u could hav burned u r cd in data files format...wch will not detected by the cd player...cd player detects only the mp3 formats...so nxt tym u burn a cd check whether the option wch u given s mp3 format for audio files...and main thing is that check whther u burned a CD or DVD...bcoz CD player will not detect DVD...a DVD player can detect CD whereas CD player cant detect DVD disc my frd!!!!

My Compaq Presario desktop will not burn CDs


Hi,
Perform a system restore and take the computer back to a time before the problems started with burning, or you can download a different media player and try burning with that, real player as a good bit of software to use for burning and Nero is too (Nero is a devoted burning suite)

If you are running nero or Roxio then disable it first. Roxio takes over the burning capabilities exclusively. You will also have to reset the device to allow WINDOWS to burn CD's. Also make note that amediplayer burns WMA files that some players won't read.

I guess you have a Read-Only drive - ROM. You need a CD/DVD RW drive for burning.

Cd burner


first off go to system information and find details of cd drive and write them down.
next click start,right click my computer,select properties,click hardware,click device manager.locate cd drive and delete.close all windows and restart.on restart system will detect new device and reinstall and more importly reconfigure.this should do the trick

hi, the problem is either the system is not detecting the CDRW,, if u can see the drive in the device manager, then try cleaning the lens, if its not in the device manager, check the BIOS, or unplug the drive out of the slot and clean the contacts and plug it back in carefully, let me know

Burned CD's won't play in auto CD player


I had the problem of burned CD's not playing in my car. I used a CD-R and burned it at "slow" burn rate. Now I don't have a problem with playing the cd's in my car player. Try it, it worked for me.
