Question about Toshiba 42HL167 42 in. LCD Television
We have a "NEW" Toshiba 32AV500U....13 months old. I swear there's a little Chinese gremlin in there with a calendar! Turned off for 2 hours, upon turning back on: no picture. Off and on a few times, checked cables, etc. Now there is no audio or video! Just a black screen. No response from any source. Tried changing to HDMI cable. No dice. Tried HDMI to computer. No dice. Spent HOURS working with service provider.....(not their fault) It's the TV What can I do to fix it myself? Ouch! The darned thing cost $750 to start with!
Save yourself some agony. Call Toshiba and see if they could give you a warranty concession being that it is just over the year warranty. The cause of the failure is either the Main Board or the LCD panel. If it is the Main board it would cost approx 450.00 to 500.00.
If it is the Panel it would cost more to fix it than what you paid to buy it in the first place.
Hope this helps
