Have you got a Dell Recovery CD for your computer? If not you can get one from the Dell WEB site. If you have this Recovery CD then boot up your computer with this CD and follow the instructions and it will restore your computer back to the Out of the Box condition.
hmm I don't really understand what you mean by home screen ..but I think you mean the desktop ...and in this case ..If it freezes it means it is already corrupted. by a virus..and need to be reinstalled. This can be done using the recovery partition .or disk ..or using a boot-able disk with the operation system .. If you have the recovery partition ..just start again ..and press f12 for the boot menu ..(or F11 depending on how is set ..and it is written on screen what you should press for this menu ) ..and select in the boot menu the recovery partition and the complete reinstalling of the operation system ..This will make it work again .. Another thing that may caused this ..is if you installed more than one antivirus ..and now they ar ein conflict ...try to see if it works to make any commands if you wait...(if it is just really slow .) ..and if it works ..try to remove one ..if it is the case..and it may work and not need to reinstall it ..but ..in those cases usually the radical solution is the fastest and best .. If you do not have a recovery disk or partition ..you need to borrow a operation system disk ..or make one by burning a downloaded image with the OS .. They are available on the net ..if you are willing to try one ..(look on the torrent site ..like pirate bay or mininova ...and see what is available ...be sure you download a genuine one ..and follow the instructions for to burn it right and be functional ) ..
This is a classic case of windows being bugged on ..and the virus is to blame for stopping (freezing ) ..You need to reinstall the operation system from scratch ..and format the hard disk C drive during this operation ... To do that you can use the recovery partition if it has one ..just press f12 or f11 (indicated on screen on start 0 and go to boot menu and select the recovery of operation system ..and if it has a recovery partition will reinstall it .. If you do not have such a partition ..use the recovery disk ..just insert it ..press f12 and choose the boot from cd ..and enter . pay attention cause it will ask you to press any key to continue .. In case you do not have a recovery disk either..You will need a boot-able disk with the operation system ...and you have to install the operation system the classic way by booting up from the disk .. let me know if you do not know how to do it ..and I will try to explain and guide you in making such a disk if you don't have it
You need to make a bootable CD, put theToshiba DMI utility on the bootable CD; Boot from that CD, then run DMI utility to set the machine to match the designation on your recovery disks. That'll do it.
Toshiba laptops come with recovery disks utility built in. you can ether do it by accessing toshiba recovery disk creator. if you do not have access to your os then you have to contact toshiba support or find some one with same laptop and ask them to create recovery for you.
If your computer still works, turn it on, insert the recovery CD and explore it. Look for the executable file (extension .exe). Probable name is setup.exe. Click it and you may have the choice to reinstall the whole thing or just the drivers and other software. That is what my recovery CD for a Toshiba laptop allows me to do.
Hope it helps.
Hi, I recommend to you to reinstall the operating system with the disc of recovery that accompanies your equipment, it is possible that the this corrupt operating system and because of it the machine freezes.
If you want it to be fixed as soon as you can, you can buy a new Operating System Disk for example the Microsoft Windows Xp or buy the same operating system that you are using right now. You can also borrow someones CD that is the same Operating System version that is installed in your computer to reformat your PC right away. When you are using Windows, all you need is the CD Key that is used in your laptop, it is usually written in a sticker under your laptop. When you buy a brand new installer, you will have a new CD key in it. Dont forget to save/back-up all your important files first in an external harddisk, usb flash drive or in a CD first before you start reformatting your computer. Get a help from a computer guy on how to format it. Hope this helps.
