Question about Panasonic AM/FM MP3/CD Player/Receiver CQCP137U

Open Question

Panasonic CQCP137U speakers distort above volume 19.

This is a brand new stereo. When connected with the factory harness in my 2007 Freightliner truck, the sound is great below 19. Above 19, the sound distorts.

SOURCE: My panasonic dvd stereo system sa-pm91d when the volume is turned above 25, it plays distorted sound, it sounds like I have incorrectly tuned a radio channel even when using the auxiliary input

Hi Gusma,
If you have Distorted sound.

These may be the causes of the problem:

  • Make sure the speakers wires are properly connected.Check the color codes, be sure they are rightfully followed.
  • - Shorting (bare wires touching) of positive and negative speaker wires.
  • - Using speakers with an impedance lower than that rated for this unit.
  • - Straining of the speakers through excessive volume or power.
  • - Using the unit in a hot environment without proper ventilation.

Trying to hook up aftermarket stereo with no factory harness. How can I go about wiring my new stereo wires or my replacement harness (with module) to my car's already existing loose stereo wiring??

Hi Daniel

You need to test & label all the loose wires.

Use a multimeter in Ohms mode to place a tickle of electricity to each speaker wire. you should hear each speaker crackle. (Multimeters only use a 9v battery internally)
Label each pair of wires for speakers.
Their color coding may help. Keep the negative & positive wires to the speakers correct so that the speakers all travel in a forward motion together or you will have distortion from one speaker that is out of phase with the others.
You will also have a permanent +12v line and a Ignition Key +12 volt line.
One keeps the station memory etc when the ignition key is off.

Cheers

When i turn the volume up to(17-20) my sound cuts out and my speakers make a cracklin noise.i have bought new speakers and rechecked all wires.my speakers are rated at 50 watts rms and my stereo pumps out...

It seems you needs more power to maintain the level of good sound.Maybe the maximum volume is 30 - then the mininum is 15 and you can't hear any cracking sound. If you exceed 15 the minimum, as you said starting 17 - 20 you hear crackling sound .Then you reach ,what they called the "cliping level"so much distortion and crackling sound, your stereo too small to accomodate .You must add a power amplifier so crackling will gone and to fit your listening pressure...

Hope it may help you;

Put a pioneer premiere deck in my 03 chev impala. Every thing is working. But no sound what so ever. Car does have a factory amp in the trunk. Hooked up many car stereo's never had this problem.

Was the system working properly with the factory radio?

If it was working with the stock radio but not with the new one, then it probably means you didn't connect the amplifier activation wire. This is a white wire in the vehicle plug, and it's usually pinned with a blue or a blue/white wire in most adapter harnesses. This needs to be connected to the blue/white wire in your Pioneer harness.

If the factory radio wasn't producing sound either, there's a common problem with the power wiring leading to the factory amp in these vehicles. The power wire runs in a thick harness below the passenger side door sills, and at a spot below the rear door there's a junction point in the wire. This connection tends to get wet and corrode until it breaks apart. (In some of these cars, this connection is constantly immersed in water because there's a leak that leads to standing water under the carpet in front of the passenger-side rear seat).

How do i get my speaker to work at high volume with out them cracking, popping destort

If you are using the factory installed speakers they aren't made for the wattage output of your receiver. Factory stereos only put out about 5 to 10 watts. If you want to play it really loud you need to replace them with speakers that have a higher wattage that what your receiver puts out, which is a maximum of 50 watts

I Hooked up my new stereo and cant get any sound. I put the factory Bose back in and the sound works. Hooked up my new stereo to another car and it has sound. Can anyone tell me Why im not getting sound...

If you had a "Bose" sound system - Factory installed - it should have and Amplified System - which means the original stereo will supply power to the Speaker Amps - that is the circuit that didn't get connected and why there is no sound.
I hope that resolves your issue
Thanks
