SOURCE: Kenmore Pro: top oven element has one hot leg.

It appears your ERC/CLOCK has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to or and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Hello Friends!
This dimming vacuum display is either caused by a power supply failure with the control board, or a the filaments of the display themselves have started to wear-- similar to that of a bad light bulb. Either way, can solve this problem- This control board is no longer available to buy new. Contact at 512-355-1108 for more information. The photo below is from a double oven, but they repair single oven displays too.

A replacement touchpad is now available from Ledgestone Technologies to replace various membrane keypad switches that are not available from the OEM.
These are in stock and can be shipped today from fixyourboard.
Find the full list of applicable models here:
Introducing the Ledgestone Technologies Touchpad
Step 1. Remove Original Plastic Bezel

You are going to re-use the original plastic bezel. Remove the panel from your oven that contains the keypad and control board. Uplug the keypad from the control board. Remove the control board from the panel (4 screws).

Step 2. Remove Original Touchpad Membrane
With a heat gun, lightly heat the original keypad from the back of the panel. This will soften the adhesive. Gently but firmly push the old keypad off the bezel by pushing from the back of the panel on the keypad window. Carefully remove the original keypad membrane element. Most of the original adhesive should pull off with the keypad. Rub off any remaining adhesive.

Step 3. Install New Ledgestone Touchpad
Remove adhesive backing paper from the Ledgestone Technologies KP1308A1 Replacement Touchpad Membrane. Align and adhere new touchpad to recess in plastic bezel. Below are examples of black on black and gray on white. Gray also looks good on bisque or almond.

Step 4. Re-install Bezel on Oven
Re-attach control board to bezel, plug-in new keypad. Re-attach bezel to oven frame. Done!

Oven turns on starts to heat then shuts off, no error code given just sais fault

Sounds like your control board is failing. I would suggest having it fixed before the damage becomes beyond repair. Many companies like to discontinue their parts in 3 years or less so if the control board becomes non-repairable you might be stuck buying a new oven. offers a repair service for whirlpool control boards. Do you have a model number? I can check to see if there is a replacement available also.

Displaying E6 & F2 code

F2/E6 fault code implies a Cancel key drive line open. This means the key pad ribbon connector could be loose or dirty where it connects to the oven control board or a faulty oven control board.

Press Cancel. If the error code returns after 60 seconds, replace the key pad. If it continues to display F2/E6 after replacing the key pad, replace the oven control board. The parts can be ordered from Sears PartsDirect

NOTE: Disconnect the power supply from the oven before servicing.

You most likely have a problem with the temprature contol knob and the thermostat.

This is all contained in one unit. The controller has a long metal "wire" that sends the temp info to the controller. The "wire" ends inside the oven.

This whole assemblage needs to be replaced.

I would need the type of stove, gas or electric age and model to give you replacement directions

The oven has power and nly the oven light works. The display does not work and the ovens will not work.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
This indicates a open/shorted oven temperature sensor or a bad control board and to solve this problem the sensor/board needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Your cancel key is defective at this point. follow these steps below?

1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).
